OK,

When doing a basic clean on my X today, I noticed paint chips everywhere. Now my car is not a garage queen, and I drive it everyday. It has 83k on it and it is a 92. Because it is white it does hide everything much better than a red or black X but man these little chips bug me. Oh well, I am about to paint the front cap, headlight covers, rear bumper, spoiler, mirrors, and rear spats so that will make me feel better. Anyone else see these chips all over upon close inspection??

My '94 NSX is white as well, and I also was thinking it might be time to 'refresh' the front with some new paint. I drive mine as well, so it is no big deal......by the way, I like the quote in your sig. I drive mine, so no dust collects on it. :D

My red 97 might have the record for paint chips on the front... but it looks REAL good from about 15 feet away.

If I ever repaint I will surely put a clear bra on it.

My White 92 lower front clip is full of little pits and chips as well. Also thge rear lower valance sides directly behind the rear tires is also pitted. My hood has a few here and there but not worth repainted. The underside of my side stock side skirts are also kind of bad. I'll be having the entire front bumper clip repainted as well as the rear lower valance. The WW skides will replace my stocks. OTher than those parts the rest of the body is in really good shape. My car has a little over 80K miles as well.

Like hlweyl mentioned, I'll probably put those clearm 3M type materials on after the repaint as well.

I use the OEM nosemask everytime I drive on long trips. Around town I don't bother with it. My '91 silver with 47K miles has about three or four small rock chips on the nose and it's all original paint. I know some don't like the look of the car with the nosemask or don't want to bother with it but used correctly, it's really helps to keep the chip count on the nose of the car to a minimum.

I've tracked my car about a dozen times and have some chips on the hood. I recently got a Colgan nosemask which covers more of the side fenders, the headlamp covers and part of the hood. It's butt ugly but gives excellent coverage. I only use it for the track.

I seem to have a bunch but my car's silver so they don't really show. The paint on my 91 over-all is still very good, so painting it seems a bit extreme. Some year I'll have to do it I suppose. But I'll wait til it's nessecary. It will avoid the 'why'd you paint it?' question if I ever sell it. Though I can't see that happening anytime soon!:D

My front end is not pristine, but I decided to put the 3M paint protection film on it anyway. I touched up the paint before applying the film, and so far it has prevented any new chips from forming. I am very happy with the solution. YMMV.
