Mod bug infection has hit, so time for me to step it up & showcase some of my skillz fellow Primers.

First off, needed to do something about those outdated popup Headlights, so a clear polycarbonate look similar to a car i saw on Prime recently was developed.
This really opens up options for whatever headlight style that needs to go into the factory housing such as HID or LED projector style.
Added pic (phone pic only sorry) below of test fit & still fine tuning, let me know what u guys think. Stay tune..

Need some better pics Bro to make a judgement call...
Or as Ian said ... we'll have to see it in person!

Hey guys, sorry not going to have good pics until fine tuning is done & project is finished, need to have that perfect OEM fitment. Will have it ready soon..

Another mod, sawed off the top part (sorry OMP) to make it F1 style, thinking about wrapping it up with carbon fiber or perforated leather to make it look beefier. (uhuhmmm.. come on Gil waiting on u to hook it up)

I know OMP & momo has the F1 style similar to this but i couldn't get into the lack of details on em. So had to mod the Superquadro to my taste instead because it just looks & feel kooler!:biggrin:

The feel & view is Spectacularly Awesome fellas! Love this car even more now, woooohooo!!!!

Some more pics & progress updates....

Lens re-cut to worked out the gap issues..

one set of Projector lights arrive but still waiting on another set. Test fitted with stainless tube to dress it up a little. Not sure if i want to keep this look, thinking about going all out with LED Model 90 headlights.... Stay tune...

Interesting idea. I am curious to see how you support your projectors or any led lights that you plan to install. I am almost done w retrofitting s2000 projectors into my 91 headlights and from working on the lights, i know there is a 4" differnce from the closed/down headlight and the up/lights on gap.
Do you plan on just finding a happy median and mount it so the light has optimal output. ?

Thanks fellas!

DreamPowered, i use a cardboard as a template then custom made my own brackets using that template.
Headlights are designed to be fixed & retractor motor is disabled.

Here's more progress pics & updates..

Decided to go with LED light bar, fits the housing perfectly.

This thing is intensely bright even in the day, Wow!!!...
One side done, one side to go....stay tune...

Will you be able to control the light pattern for oncoming traffic? I'm curious to see some night shots. Should look wicked coming up the road.

Davidf, no light pattern cannot be control it is on at full 36w/1800 lumens.

Will get some pics & vids soon, trying to wrap it up.
Wicked it is indeed!!!...:devilish: Think this is the first LED headlight setup for an NSX.
I could be wrong tho....

Interesting project. I tend to think the pop ups are a character aspect of those model years. Why not just buy the later model year NSX? Can't wait to see the finished product. Keep us posted.

Thanks. Although i like the 02+ front bumper & headlights as well, however, since there are no options available to change up looks of the popups currently for sale anywhere, i went ahead & took this project into my own hands.
Now, having that alternative to change up the looks of the headlights (to clear plus tint) a little to my taste is a kool & badazzzz feeling & stands out uniquely from the pack!!!

This is not my 1st nor will it be my last NSX, i will for sure be collecting the 02+ soon as well just to have because i can & most importantly my love for NSX.:biggrin:

Looks good. I would paint the exposed fasteners/rivets black and apply a tint film to the polycarbonate lense, to make it look as if its an original headlight cover (since you're care is black); but then At night............. Bammmmmmm stealth LED lighting:eek:; Keep us updated with pictures and video if possible; IMO this might be a great alternative in keeping the slick/sharp lines up front that 91-01 have yet breaks up at night once headlights come up.

Thanks bro, yes these ideas have been thought out & originally i wanted to go that route with a smoked lens (instead of tint film even tho there some on the upper half to hide the housing) that comes factory made (for a cleaner look) from my local supplier but wanted to start out simple first just to make sure i get it right, with the clear lens & not waste material. As for the fasteners, i also started with stainless to keep things simple but down the line i plan to add some anodized coloring schemes to the mix & change things up a little as well.
Yes the smoked lens will definitely look Wicked & when LED's kick in!!! More to come.....

Everything flowed smoothly!!!
Transformation completed!!! R.I.P. to the old school Popups (reversible btw)....
& Now, Say Hello to the New Fixed 91-01 style LED lights/Lens!!!:smile::smile:
Mode4 bumper, i'm coming for u next..

Night pics to come.....

How is that steering 'wheel' legal for road use ... or is it just a clever photshop image?

Headlight mod could prove to be interesting if you create a beam pattern ...

If i photo shop it, that would be a daarn good job...jokes aside, DOT laws here requires that steering wheels be min of 13" diameter. But mine is custom cut on top as you can see, with that said, a local cop happen to be at the gas station while i pulled in to get some gas. He saw my car & came by to chat with me about how he always loved NSX's but never got this close up to see one. While chatting he kept looking at the steering area & mentioned that he just love the way the steering wheel looks & positioned.. Well I invited him to sit in the car & when he did, he was in loved & told me "i just found a new love & respect for NSX's". I told him get u one, he smile & said most definitely one day.... THat was one kool cop!!!.. Now, even tho he didn't look into the DOT law book & get the specifics on the dimensions for steering wheels & question me etc.., i'm still taking a risk & will accept the risk if another cop decides that missing top piece is not gonna cut it....

The LED projects it's own beam as you can see on attach pics below that i just updated.

great job... going with led's is certainly taking headlight illumination for the NSX's with the pop up headlights to the next level. Just like when I decided to replace the OEM projectors on my pop ups with S2000 projectors and FX35 bi-xenon back in January 2006, which has been and continue to be one of my favorite modifications for my NSX project.

Again, great job!!!

Taking it to the next level indeed!!!:smile: Thanks Mike, Yea this is also my favorite mods ever.

Good job Brother! Glad you made it the way You Like It! Enjoy!

^^ Shrink, i do realize this headlight conversion is not everyone's cup of tea, but what matters is if i like it & others that may want to do the same...:biggrin:

^^ Thanks Terry, love how i get even more attention with this look, not that i needed.....lol

Moving on to next fun mod......

The goods just arrived & picked up from local dealer today!!!! Wooohoooo!!!!!!

Will now convert 91-01 skirt to the O2+ skirt, was very hard to decide if i wanted to go with Mode4 bumper or convert totally to 02+ front end, but, pulled the trigger & went 02 front (just the skirt for now). Will try to make it fit into that 91-01 bumper, took measurements & appears to be dead on at the mouth even tho some shaving or adding may be needed, so here i go again....

Interested to see what you used for the LED light. I dig it and hope you can sell a simple conversion kit ;)

reminded me of the Gas Monkey F40 LED headlights:
