There's a built-in bias in this survey. Anyone whose timing belt had failed, and who had not changed it in the recommended interval, is not likely to be willing to post about it. I sure wouldn't (although this has not happened to me).

Also, why not include the stretched old timing belt that Larry Bastanza reported, as a failure?

Your point is well taken...why don't you ask if anyone has had a failure and what the miles/years was.
I do not tend to think with bias...I assumed that anyone that had something informational to report, would report...especially on this enthusiasts forum.

If Larry responded to my query, he's included...if not he's not.

I've heard more problems with botched timing belt replacement jobs then actual timing belt failures...Like the one with the impact driver on the crank pulley.
