I am considering buying an NSX. I have a few questions for all yuo owners.

1) What is the thing that bugs you the most? a rattle, a little this, a bit that?

2) What is the thing you love the best? Acceleration, Stereo, Handling, the short shifter, the engine hum?

Basically I want to know all of the reasons why I should buy one and all of the reasons why I shouldn't

Thanks in advance...

Jesse

"Basically I want to know all of the reasons why I should buy one..."

Because you want the finest road going experience you can have (without worrying about where on the road AAA will be picking you up)

" ..and all of the reasons why I shouldn't"

You go through cars like Liz Taylor goes through husbands. Owning the NSX will change the way you think about the "latest" fad and newest go fast gizmo. It is a car meant to be driven and enjoyed, and will last as long as you will (well, maybe longer).

Dislikes: Some more low end grunt would be nice, expensive mods.

Likes: Everything else- handling, high end power, interior, sound, looks, shifter- awesome experience.

Opinion: Awesome vehicle. Add a blower and it's a perfect car (to me).

Likes: Everything. Best car I have ever owned (this is my 28th new car)

Dislikes: Not really a dislike, but I would like a little more foot room. The pedals are a little too close. Not griping, just a small want.

GREAT CAR

I just had a conversation with a friend the other day about this topic. I find for me that the NSX is perfect in every way right from the factory. Everything on the car is right where it needs to be and works the way it should. Even the little things like the low/high beam switch. Pull towards you click lights change. Pull again (not forward and back like the setup in some other cars) and the lights change again. You know its always the little things like this that change my mind about how much I like a car, and then eventually convince me to sell it. Sometimes I feel that the NSX was built just for me.

Dislikes- Low front end makes some driveways look like mountains (I made it worse by lowering the car). Cup holder is a joke.

Likes- Closest feeling to driving F1 I have ever had. This car is the most awesome bang for the buck(IMO, but many will agree). Drive one, that's all it takes.

Dislikes:
- cupholder couldn't hold a cup even under mild acceleration

- glove compartment barely can fit a pair of gloves (on models with passenger-side airbags)

- damn ugly air bag warnings on the visors of year 2000+ models

Likes:
- Everything else

Ditto on the Cupholders, Glove Box
Tiny sun visors (why bother)

Love everything else

Minor quibbles....

No real map lights. Interior lights shine in one's eyes.

More foot room to the left and around the dead pedal.

I guess the lack of decent cupholders.

Dislikes? after my Basch Supercharger is installed there will be none. (I'm not saying the car needs to be force fed, but it won't hurt)

Likes? The best most neutral handling car I've ever driven. And it's hand down more fun to drive than the Carrera Cab. I owned before my X.

Cupholder? ah, Americans...

(I really liked the cover of a C&D issue beginning of this year, or late 2000, with the 996TT, Modena & Aston Martin comparison: "1200hp and no (damn?) cupholders"

Dislikes: Headlights - and the fact only something like an aftermarket HID system will solve the problem.
Likes: Everything else.

Likes: Combination comfort and performance. The most comfortable long distance performance car I have ever experienced.

None

the NSX is one of few cars, in which numbers and stats don't mean a squat. Once you are at VTEC, you'd think you are Jacques Villeneuve driving a BAR Honda at Spa-Franchorcamps. In short, likes - the intangible !!
Dislike(s) - I own only one.

Thanks all!

Hey Jim:

When you said "Headlights - and the fact only something like an aftermarket HID system will solve the problem."

Did you mean they aren't bright enough?

Anything else?

I also love just about everything about this car Performance,Looks,Comfort etc plus it still looks like a new car being a 91.

Dislikes-Being paranoid about where I park always watching out for other drivers trying to get a look the car draws a lot of attention.

The projection isn't as good as I would like it to be.

Dislikes -any car of this caliber will cost you a bundle to service (usually dealer only).

Likes - reliability - you won't have to service it often. Show me a 10 year-old car for the price that still looks this good...

That's not consistent with my experience. My dealer charges the same rates for servicing my NSX as for my Integra. And their hourly rates aren't much higher than the competent independent mechanics around here.

Hi there -- FYI, I own a Zanardi edition.

1) What is the thing that bugs you the most? a rattle, a little this, a bit that?

Wow, definitely a car that's hard to criticize, but here goes:

1. Needs more horsepower and torque. The car is getting old, and the NSX is falling behind.

2. Stock, the handling isn't so great -- too much body roll. If you're a serious sports car driver and unless you're buying a Zanardi (or are in Japan and buying a Type S or S-Zero), you'll want to do something with the suspension.

3. What is it with the Japanese and their propensity to put tiny tires on their sports cars? The NSX simply needs more rubber on the pavement for better handling.

2) What is the thing you love the best? Acceleration, Stereo, Handling, the short shifter, the engine hum?

Heh, there's not much to not love. Perhaps what I love most is the overall feel... as a complete package, all things considered (handling, performance, build quality, comfort, road-ability, track-ability, reliability, appearance, etc.), it's the best (although once I put a bunch of time on a Porsche 911 TT soon, I may change my mind -- we'll see).

There are faster cars, there are better handling cars, there are better cars for the road specifically, and better cars for the track specifically... (although there probably aren't better built cars)... but overall, when everything is considered and averaged together, it's probably still the best all around sports car.

Summary: do you want a car that's a 'specialist' or a 'generalist'... if the latter, go with the NSX.

I like this! I forwarded it around to some friend (included Modena, GT3 and 996TT users)
