To be, or Not to be... with my NSX

When it rains, it pours... story of my life when it comes to my cars.
If one breaks, they all decide to break down at once no matter .

The Evo's camber plates are loosening up and I just got new tires for the thing. (Into the shop it goes)
The E63 got a flat while I loaned it to a friend. (Sitting in front of the house)

So I decided to drive the NSX... This goes a bit back.

Several weeks ago, the NSX misfired when I started it up. I freaked, turned it off, got out and did a visual inspection, found nothing wrong and started it up and everything seemed fine.

A week or two later, same thing happened. I'm gonna cut all the details short here. I took it to the dealership cause the comptech S/C came with my Acura Certified Used NSX. The dealer charged me a $150 for diagnoses after concluding that the FMU was the cause. Only 1 year for comptech parts, oh well :frown:

Mike C. referred me to Shad at Driving Ambitions and I told him about the FMU hoping to purchase a new FMU. Shad basically said i don't need one after I described to him what the FMU was doing, so basically, misdiagnoses from the dealership. Ate the $150:mad:

Shad told me to check the wiring on the ESM. After taking it apart and cleaning it up, it was fine. At least for a few weeks....

So... I decided to drive the NSX... and more headaches for me.

I'm thinking about dumping ALL my cars starting with a new clean slate!

I might be going a bit over board but I really HATE dealing with drama. That's why i didn't even want the F/I with my NSX, but so hard to resist the POWER:biggrin:

Maybe I'll just get rid of the s/c.... but i do think i don't have enough time to drive all my cars.... I don't know:confused:
I might have to dig up Ryan's old ad.

P.S. Shad did tell me to solder the connector buds, but haven't done that yet. Hopefully the Evo will be done today.

FMU <--whats that.

I remember I had 3 cars once, 3000gt (still sitting in the garage bc of winter), 92 civic hatch vx, and 2005 sti. now they are all gone except the 3kgt and my beater 92 accord.

just stick with it, it hurts now, but it will be all better in due time. keep that sucker.

I consider myself more of a collector, 2 NSX's and an S2000:redface: These modified cars can be a handful but it's so much fun. Just get a bone stock daily driver and call it a day.

well, if it wasn't the ECM like Shad suggested how do you know its not the FMU?

I saw your car at the dealership. The NSX mechanic there works on quite a few in the bay area.

lol collector. 2 nsx, 1 ferrari, 1 supra, 3 mr2's, 1 truck.

it gets stubid expensive. maintance aside. Good god i can do it all but just think... 3 sets of greddy gauges and wide band 800$/car for my 3 turbo project cars. AEM EMS X 3.... 5000$ turbo kit X 3.... $$$$$$ Injectors, fuel pump, fuel rail, fuel lines X 3 = 3000$ oh man

i just want to get ride of all the stubid projects and get a TDI and put around with 90HP at the crank and gettingn 50mpG all day.

sycosho i feel the same way right now.

I want to sell all my projects and cars and start off with clean slate... however, you and I probably end up with the same cars again.

btw i want a GT30 S2k

all is not lost.

are your esm wires soldered in or are they connected with splice connectors ..Early kits were supplied with splice connectors. These splice connectors corrode, move and eventually fail. if you solder in the esm you will not have any more problems. (let me guess the symptom with car runs fine then starts to misfire to the point of not being drivable and then is fine again. if you pull your cars trouble codes you will likely see a code stored for out of range MAP (manifold absolute pressure)..

on a stock nsx the car is looking for vacuum from the map sensor. When you boost the car the map sensor sees pressure (boost) instead of vacuum and does not know what to do (trouble code). the comptech esm takes the map signal and makes sure the ecu (computer on the car) never sees a value out of range.

again, solder the connections on the esm and you'll never have to think about this.

Good God, Can't anyone be normal!!!

I have a daily Car-IS250, a practical SUV-RX300, and a toy-NSX... All your cars are 2 seaters!!! Crazy funny though HAH

The Lexuses don't need much maintenance. The NSX wouldn't have much maintainance, but i seem to make my own problems, i just mess with it too much!!!

lol collector. 2 nsx, 1 ferrari, 1 supra, 3 mr2's, 1 truck.

Sung,
Send that NSX directly to Shad before you have any more thoughts about selling it (bring Mike w/ you and we'll have lunch at Mikuni's again ).

Shad will get it sorted out and you'll keep the NSX.

The tech at the dealership explained the fuel pressure readings and thought that the specs were off. When I conveyed the numbers to shad, he told that the numbers were right on.

All three of your cars are under warranty, so stop complaining  , it could be worse. I know alot of people (myself included) who would die to be in your shoes. Three cars to choose from... hmmm. what should I drive today? The NSX; The Mercedes E63 or the EVO?? hmmm... Well, I think I will take the Mercedes since it's a four door and I can pick up more chicks with

CRY ME A RIVER

No sympathy from me... because you are always in the top three at Texas Hold'em.

Mike

Oh yeah... if I do go with you to take your NSX to Shad, then your buying at Mikuni's and I do intend to order food for all my relatives as well. I'll bring new meaning to "Take Out"
