Trunk lid doesn't latch anymore!!!

After tennis tonight, I went to put my tennis bag in the trunk of the NSX and I plopped the trunk lid down (the struts are shot), and did a check to see if it locked. It didn't lock. Then I tried a few more times. Doesn't lock anymore. I don't want anything to "fly" out. I felt the lower part (the base) and it felt rough like something broke.

What could this be?

How can I get it to lock again?

What part do I need?

Thanks in advance!!!!

I don't want anything to "fly" out.

With the amount of downforce being placed on the trunk lid at speed, I can't imange it opening by itself and allowing something to 'fly' out.
Even though the trunk lid is aluminum, the spoiler isn't so the two combined weigh quite a bit and won't just open.
I assume your trunk ajar light on the dash is illuminated?

If something has gotten in the lock area and is touching the locking mechanism, it can prevent the lock from latching.. I have a remote pull wire attached to my trunk pop, and occasionally, if I have been messing with the carpet panels, I can pull on the wire such that the lock wont engage.

This seems unlikely to be your issue, but if one of the parts of the lever came loose or was caught on some wiring, it could cause this.

Make sure you didn't leave your sunglasses on the lip of the trunk somewhere.

Don't ask how I know that could cause this problem. :)
