hi guys,
one of my hinges on the trunk lid acts 'loose' when the lid is closed. you can actuall pull the corner of the lid up about 1/8 in (you can see the little rubber stop separating from the rest-position). i assume it is indicative of a worn gas strut as it seems to be the only thing exerting any pressure there. am i correct?

Even with a worn gas cylinder you should not be able to move the trunk that much. Double check all the bolts (2 on the lid and 2 on the body) are tight. Also, check the pivots on the multi-links for no slack.

i already checked, there is no slack anywhere- the extra motion is within the designed range. seems the strut is just shot.
