Anyone have any input as to what size Volks are best for city driving (no track use) ,reasonable cost Tire replacement (tire availability) and last but not least asthetics? I'm about ready to order and want to make sure I get it right.

18's all corner. Well that will be the size I'm going for my next wheels. 19" tires are too damn expensive. Well the JGTC NSX is also using 18" Volk TE37 front and back.

I forgot the offset but those size shouldn't rub as long you are using the proper size tires on them. 215/40/17 front and 265/35/18 rear. My friend had that size on his NSX. The red one with bronze TE37 in my album.

I agree, 18 would be the best looks/performance-wise (if you're looking for some traction on the streets and induced by the force:wink:). If you want to go all out hotness, I'd recommend 19's or even 20's-if you're bold enough. Just remember, no matter what-you must slam the you know who.
I'd really suggest the LE37T's, you get that added polished lip for the pimp effect! Also what color did you plan on going? I've never liked any gunmetal rims, but on the LE37T's, gunmetal just looks like it belongs on the rim.

Jin, 19" tires are not that expensive, I'd expect a single decent tire should be $200 (prices will vary according to brand, features, and sizes). If any of you guys need help looking for tires (I mean great prices) let me know! I can help shed some light in your tire brand, fitment, and price search.

I've been shopping around for new rims. I'm curious to why you would recommend 20's for the NSX? 19" wheels upfront have to be real narrow to even fit and will probably still rub too much. To me personally, it doesn't look right. $200 seems a little bit cheap for 19" tires. What size and brand is for that price?

Fame, my friend. It seems that you just do what everyone else is doing (which is fine, sometimes). It is time though, for everyone to step out of their comfort zone and do some terrific things to their NSX's. You know my answer to fitment issues and rubbing? widebody.

To you personally it doesn't look right, so maybe you shouldn't consider it if you don't like it.

$200 is the typical price for some average 19 inch tires. Let's say 255/35/19. Like I said, with the brand name, features, sizing, it'll go up up and away.

I second this. I went with LE37T's 18 & 19's and lovin it. I think this staggered sizing looks best on this car. Makes it look current/up to date.

Seems like car mfg are going with a bigger wheel setup all the time. The new C6 ZO6 is running 18 & 19's. It definitely sets it apart from the run off the mill C6.

BTW: 19/20 would be plain STUPID for a street driven car (ok for pimping a show car or demo car), unless you really like a harsh ride and like to spend $$'s fixing wheels and don't mind having a limited selection of wheels/tires that fit properly.

Only problem is I drive my car hard everyday about 44 miles a day on hot road surface (Brunei summer climate all year around:biggrin: ). I had 19's before and the difference in USD is about 150 more expensive than the 18's. They seldom order 19 size tire in my country (a good brand like Bridgestone, Michelin and Goodyear). Most of the 19's available are for SUV's. Moreover there is that weight increase. But me being me I follow the JGTC sizing in rim size. BTW Eleganze I like your taste on wheels. Post some more links of nice wheels if you have more.

We are talking about rims, not also doing a widebody conversion. Really you shouldn't recommend all this stuff without doing more research on the matter. Most people who do 19's on the rear use 275-30-19. People do terrific things to their NSX on here all the time. Seems like everyone on here just isn't cutting it for you. Maybe you need to step up to the plate and show us how it's done. First step is purchasing an NSX.

As with anything else, it's all about priorities and compromises both on paper and in practice. There is no Ultimate TE37 size so forget about it. Given the criteria you laid out... some will say get the largest offered TE37 size- 19X10.5" in the rear, and others will advocate near OEM sizes as being best as your criteria is open to a lot of interpretation- ultimately you're deciding what is important to you, driving the vehicle everyday, and footing the all important recurring tire bill us NSX owners have to enjoy.

My advice is that if the points you mentioned above are genuinely important to you... reasonable cost, tire availability, mostly city driving.. then 18/19's are not ideal. Cost for both the wheels and tires is always higher for the larger diameter, tire options in 19's I would characterize at best as 'limited but getting better', and the lower profile 25's and 30's sidewall will lead to curb rash more easily on bad potted city streets.

A good start, the TE37 is a great single piece forged aluminum wheel and is relatively light and strong to begin with. While there is a noticable difference to be felt on the extreme ends of the sizing spectrum.. for the most, I can say that you'll never notice a difference 'city driving'. City driving sucks, I sat in bumper to bumper traffic for 2 hours tonight to go 9 miles in rain surrounded by a sea of brake lights. In these conditions you could as well be running on four spares and not notice.

I run 18/19 TE37, which I really like the look of, and 275/30R19 tires can be had for around $150.00 if you just want the look, and are not tracking/aggressively driving the car. The 17/18 also looks good in my opinion, but for some reason the 16/17 looks too small (which is why I wanted to upgrade from OEM wheels) and the same size on all 4 corners looks wrong on the NSX. Look at some of the people who have 17/17 or 18/18 and you may agree (or may not!). The body/wheelwell design of the NSX lends itself to a staggered set up (whih also may be why I do not like the looks of the 02-05 body style as much as the 91-01, but seem to always like them with aftermarket wheels, which tend to be staggered).

What I shoud of asked is ,what size TE 37 is a good compromise between function ,aesthetics and tire replacement cost . I'd hate to buy a set of wheels only to find I need some crazy priced tires every 3k or so.

My 17x8/18x9.5 combo pic below (it's not a good pic, i'll post better pics later). It absorbs potholes pretty good (I need that in Charleston, SC) and with the Goodyear GSD3's is a great performer (lighter weight than 18/19 and great traction for the street). The lighter weight front wheels also make it easier to steer at low speeds which helps a lot in parking and turning pulling away from stop lights.

More details (including weights) can be found HERE.

yeap, nsx wheels supposed to be staggered to look right.

How do I know, I had a set of 17/17 and then another set of 18/18 TE37. IMO, it's just not looking as good as the Stagger wheels.

18 front have limited tire choice. the smaller tire sidewall looks cool like a "rubber band" as redneck called it. But it could lead to damage to wheel should you accidentally put one wheel into a pot hole. not to mention the curb rash, if you are the type not ALWAYS paid attention when you parrellel park.

The other disadvantage of 18 front is that your stock brakes look hideous small... you know kind of remind us those civic and jettas with 19 inches rim... "look ma, no brakes!!"

Attached picture with my car with 18/18 and 17/17, you decide.

You specifically asked me for my opinion, when I gave it to you-you chewed my head off.

Haha, ask me man, I'll do the dirty work for you and ship over the 19" tires.

I don't really follow JGTC but what kind of rim/tire sizing do they go with? Conservative, aggressive, stylish, etc... I would really like to know.

And yea, I'll try to put up more pics in that rim thread but only a few of my pictures were able to be loaded to the site gallery. I'll try again some other time, or if you gave me your email, I could send more pics of different rims your way.

IMHO, with all the compromises with look, cost, and practicality, 17x7.5 and 18x9.5 as Tom said. I would not do 17/17 or 18/18 which I think look wierd.
I did 18/19 just for the look.

I never took offense to what you said, and I apologize if you're taking offense to mine. I was just stating some facts that counters your pseudo-information.

I did 18/19 because Steve is my hero:biggrin:

Instead of the TE37's I went with SF Challenge...
