Ok, I'll take it without the proper 6spd, you win.
Ok, I'll take it without the proper 6spd, you win.
The prototype Nissan GT-R V-Spec, wearing the "Victory Specification" designation reserved for the ultra high-performance Nissan GT-R, has been caught lapping the famed Nürburgring at an incredible, if not simply unbelievable, 7:25 per lap. This, according to bystanders trackside. (For comparison, Walter Röhrl lapped the Ring in 7:28 while driving a Porsche Carrera GT in 2004.)
Still ugly
LOL and Honda says no next NSX until they can beat this.
GT-R would cream anyone around the track. I'm with you on the gizmos. It will make you faster on the track but maybe it takes away from the fun. I'm pissed about cd's taking over vinyl for the same reasons. but we'll have to get used to the latest "e-aids" you mention. I'd love a GTR of course although It looks like a 350/G35 mashup, they should supercar it out and lose the classic family sports sedan car styling.Super impressive stats, and I am SURE that car beckons the future of supercars.
That said, I have been looking at it for months now trying to figure out why it just doesn't do it for me. Looks are iffy, and it is kinda big but I could get past that. I think it is the electronics.
They have been proliferating for years in daily drivers. Some things are great like bluetooth, navigation, radar cruise, IR night illumination, etc. Some are borderline acceptable like iDrive and paddle shifters. Some are downright annoying to the point I would rip them out the day I got the car (onstar tracking, TCS you can't turn off etc).
I think the reason this car has struck a chord for me is that I have grown to view daily driver cars as a tool. Therefore, I am more appreciate some of the gizmos and look past some of the electronic nannies.
With sports cars for me, I am less likely to appreciate the gizmos and tolerate the nannies. I don't compete in F1, I don't really want the e-aids regardless of how much faster they make me, and I already have a playstation at home. I want a sports car I can feel passionate about. To me, there is beauty in the mechanicals of a car.
It is like we are going from mechanical to digital watches. Better by the metrics, but just doesn't evoke the same passion in me. I bet the GT-R would cream an Exige around the track, but I just can bring myself to want one as much.
Anybody else feeling this way, or I am I the only crazy one?
