I'm thinking visiting for a week later this month. I'm looking at hotels around (east of Rittenhouse Square) Locust St and Broad St. We will be site seeing and may be walking back to the hotel from a bus stops late at night. Is this area safe to walk around at night? Thanks for any info.

I go to Philly every few months.

I go there because I live close and my very good friend is up there. He works for a local TV station and he sees lots of things. I've heard stories from him that would keep me away from living there. If you go downtown, the market street is fun and the museum is great. Other than that... nothing much really.

Is it a nice place? No, it's actually a craphole. But.... there is lots of history and there are some nice or interesting places to visit. Mutter Museum is amazing, if you have a strong stomach.

Anyway, don't ever plan on moving there but it is definitely nice to visit.

BTW, the best Philly Cheesesteak is not in Philly either. Sorry if I seem discouraging. Denver beats them food-wise by a wide margin!
