If you are ordering the entire kit, you only need item #1 listed above. The others are good for reference if you ever need replacement parts (well, as long as they are still being made).

my 93 i bought three years ago came with one remote, i had my local autosound store locate a replacement brain and two new remotes with the leather pouches and all. i think it cost me about 400 installed and he found it out in the midwest from a dealer who i think was happy to finally get rid of this out of his stock from 1993.
i have to admit the one negative with this system is that there is NO audio or visual display when armed or disarmed and since i park all the way in the back by myself and my OCC kicks in i have to walk back to the car to see if in fact the doors are locked especially in new york want to make sure the doors are locked.....would love some advice on how to add either a visual reminder or audion chirp of somesort like in most if not all aftermarket systems. My brother has a 91 with a viper remote installed that does all that stuff chirps and flashes lights as well as OPENS the HATCH.

I recently installed a factory Acura Keyless Entry System in my 1994. It is pretty basic; it locks and unlocks the doors, engages the antitheft system, and has a panic button. No sounds, light flashes, or additional capabilities. I lock mine when I am still next to the car so I hear the "clunk" of the doors locking. So that is my audible verification. Not particularly a high-tech system, but I am satisfied with it. Not exactly overwhelmed with joy, but it is sufficient.

If someone is going to spend $375 for an oem system, probably better to get a good-quality aftermarket alarm installed. That way they can get an aural/visual confirmation, unlock the trunk with the remote, remote-start the car (for an automatic like mine, or defeat the manual lock-out and always leave 'er in neutral, not recommended) and even roll the windows up and down from the remote, depending on which system you chose.

Is there a way to integrate an aftermarket alarm system with the oem security system though?

Here's an idea you might try:
You may have heard most Toyotas give a moderate-volume beep when you use its OEM KES remote. You can get the same effect.

Go to Radio Shack and buy a little $4.50 piezo electric buzzer (1.25" diameter - 12v - 85dB - 3500Hz - or bigger and louder if you want it to be obnoxious). Locate the wire from the factory keyless entry control unit that energizes 12v+ when you press the lock button on your remote. Connect this buzzer to that wire and a ground (you may or may not need to add a simple relay) and mount the little guy in the front compartment. It will give a short beep when you lock the doors with the remote. You could also add another relay and wire that to flash the parking lights as well.

Anyway, I already bought the buzzer and had a spare horn relay laying around, so I just need to connect it to my aftermarket KES, using its built in parking light flash circuit.

Champagne dreams on a beer budget!

My NSX has the factory keyless entry and the lights flash when locking/unlocking, I can also set the horn to BEEP when locking/unlocking plus the doors auto lock when moving! There is a seperate hidden feature on my OEM system that sits up under the dash and allows me to access the features.

When I lived in the UK my OEM keyless did the same things; beeped, lights, etc. On a side note, a group also stole my "frequency" by following me around and attempted to steal my car!
