I want something that I can spray on, then hose it off without leaving a residue. What's out there? :redface:
What can I use to clean my engine that won't leave a residue?

I use Simple Green and a small paint brush.
That won't leave any white stuff afterwards?

I thought Simple Green was bad for aluminum. A citrus degreaser would be better.
Do you have a link to a specific brand?

EAC if your using carb&choke cleaner first yes there will be a white residue.
after I clean mine with the carb&choke after it dries I go back over the whole engine bay with tire shine,
not the foaming crap the spray bottle it makes the engine look wet and shiny. doesnt hurt anything either.

I've used tire shine for many years but I just can't bring myself to use it on the NSX. My valve covers will be coated so I need to make sure it won't hurt that.

on all my other cars that have been honda/acuras they have valve covers painted also. never have had any crack of peel the paint off of it.
I have had my NSX for about 2 years now and clean the engine and use the tire shine every other month and my engines valve Covers are still mint. and I drive mine all the time and I drive it hard
but its your car and you use what ever products you like.LOL

trust me I know, I've been a tire shine whore for many years.... I used that slime on anything and everything! Even undercarriages before a show, LOL ! As you know, it seems to attract dirt quicker... just gotta maintain it.
We'll see.

None of the above stated. P21S total autowash. It is ph balance and safe for the motor, and by accident if it gets sprayed on the paint, it will not harm it. Frank

castrol engine cleaner in the purple spray bottle. Don't even nee to brush the stuff unless it's REALLY thick grime.
Picked up some gunk over the weekend, not the foamy kind. Stuff was gross, left a residue like I didn't want. Stunk like crap, still stinks after 25 miles.
I'd rather use soap and water next time.
I broke down and shot it with some soul glow afterwards :biggrin:
