A NSX or any strong sport car: One put the car in first gear, launch the car, then while the car is still in first at 4500-5000, step on the clutch again. If you do that, the rear tires will chirp and the car will shoot forward strongly. However, I know that is not "power shifting' nor 'double clutching," so what is it called? My friend did it in his car and we didn't smell any clutch, so I assumed that it is not burning.

Uh, I'm no car expert but my guess would be pointless

The learching forward you feel is probably from the car slowing down from the engagement of the clutch and then quickly re-engaging as you release it.

Feeling faster is being faster, y0!

I'm not sure if there's a name out there for it - maybe "popping the clutch while in motion" or, better yet, "speed shifting" without the "shifting". :D

Your friend is attempting to stop sending power to the ground for an amount of time, storing it in the flywheel instead, then releasing the energy to the ground in a shorter amount of time by popping the clutch. Although it might feel faster to your friend, your friend would be better off (be faster) if your friend stopped misusing the clutch and just drove normally. This would also prevent unnecessary wear on your friend's clutch and drivetrain components.

So, I agree with splitz. Maybe the best name would be virtual pseudo horsepower.

Amazing! You have some... skill, my friend. I asked a question regarding the car and not for your commentary skill. Not very polite, are you? But I understand....

how could you pick on just hugh when I also read "stupid", "pointless", and then hugh's "moronic". In other words, I think they mean to say that there is NO name to it since it has no true significant purpose. Just popping the clutch.

Cool, you have five NSXes and four MR2s? That's a lot of cars!

Your friend is losing time momentarily by putting in the clutch, diminishing his acceleration, to rev the engine so he can dump the clutch. It has no name. It's dumb.

You obviously do not read Hugh's posts. He was actually being kind (for Hugh:rolleyes:  )

I totally forgot about that! Thank you for pointing it out; as a matter of fact, I think you are..., too. Much appreciated, young sir! Amazing society we live in, is it not?

ROTFLMAO...

NSX/MR2... You call it been stupid, pointless and been a moron!...

Why are you getting so defensive? It was your friend wasn't it???

The whole idea is to try to get some wheelspin while the car is in motion. There is no purpose to it... Hence "pointless" and the only time it is performed is when you are showboating to someone that you can do "this"... Hence being a moron!

Thanks for the laugh guys...

Regardless of whether my friend did it or will do it again, he found enjoyments in what happened and where I was pleasantly surprised, it was still his business and I was just asking for the name of the action that was perform. However, not any time in this conversation I give you... permission to be judgemental. If you so inclined, i can tell you that your mom is... but that is just not my style. However, we live in a society of ... mo...s, so please feel free to shower me with love and i will return in kind.

Note: Precisely because he is my friend i feel he is a lot more worthy for me to defend, especially from you ...nks. Who gave you .. the balls to be the judges of everything? Where is your manner, children? Families weren't very well-grounded, are we?

I think everyone already gave you an answer. There's no name for it other than stupid behavior.

Boy you have a lot of NSXes and MR2s!

No, just two for now; one of each. Boy, it was fun! That is the list of the cars I have had in four years. And no, saying that you think is not a fact, my friend. What you think doesn't matter here because that was not what I was asking for, chico. Beside, i take everyone's opinion here (everybody), with a grain of salt. Boy, have a good day chopping now, will you! Bye now...!

Your right NSX/MR2... What you two do behind closed (car) doors is your own business and no-one should judge you because of it! ...

Indeed! Just like I can say that the night that your mo.. and i had is our business and definitely shouldn't be judged by anybody, regardless of what happened and factual purposes.

I don't enjoy doing this. Let's call this off and make peace, this is not necesarry.

Sorry, I couldn't help myself ;)

As has been outlined several times thus far in this thread: the action you describe has no purpose, causes wear to your car, and doesn't come with a special name, aside from "stupid" - you may enjoy practicing this act of "stupid" in your car, and that is your business, but there is really nowhere else to go from here, aside from posting funny pictures and reading unintelligable responses.

We're all nsx owners, let's forget you made this thread, you can continue wearing down your pricey clutch, and I can make a cliff note not to purchase a used car from you.

Huh huh! Who said anything about me doing it? Go back and read the posts my friend, especially if you can't comprehend them all at once. And yes, just like you wouldn't buy my car(s), i wouldn't risk dealing with you selling a Pinto.

Well, I was trying to decipher this gem:
"Regardless of whether my friend did it or will do it again, he found enjoyments in what happened and where I was pleasantly surprised"

And interpreted it as:
"My friend likes to do this in his car, and finds enjoyment in doing so - I tried it, and was pleasantly surprised"

Perhaps you could revert back to 'small words' in an effort to increase readability?

And yes, just like you wouldn't buy my car(s), i wouldn't risk dealing with you selling a Pinto.

I don't see a pinto included in your fleet of MR2's and nsx's, what are the details? clear title/color/history/options?
