What do you think about Carbon Fiber overlays on the interior?

Please help, I can't decide what to do with the interior?

I want to bring my stereo system into the 21st century, so I bought a double din console from a prime member and it has the CF overlay on it. It also came with the CF Overlay kit to do the rest of the interior.

I also bought the CF gauge bezel with aluminum trim rings. The good thing about this is you can always remove it.

I am having second thoughts and I can't decide what to do. Do you think the Overlays will look okay? I can't really afford the real thing like the Procar stuff or even the KANE CF Wrapped stuff will kill my budget... I have a family to feed. I have a few options that I have come up with. So I appreciate your opinion.

My main concern is that I don't want to detract from the looks or hurt the value of my car just in case heaven forbid I ever have to sell her.

Here is my interior now.

Thanks in Advance

I think if you want to redo the interior, new leather seats will be much nicer than stereos. 2000 and up style perforated leather and door cover, make the car feel much more sportier and newer. Stereo wise, if you don't need anything more than an ipod, stock look very clean.

Don't do it man. You're initial instincts are correct. The overlays are not good enough visually or stylistically for your high end car. You gotta find something equal to the stock quality or better otherwise don't do it. I've bought and modified 3 consoles at a total cost of 700 bucks and would have been happier leaving it stock.

Dennis- I have the overlays in my car and I think its fine but thats my opinion.

Here is what mines look like and I think it looks nice.....seems like I am in the minority here but I don't care. If you want to spend the money to get the real thing then kudos to you.....maybe one day I will buy the real thing, but for now I am happy with my interior. My car came with the overlays except for the dash part. So I just decided to finish the look with the dash piece. Good luck with whatever you decide and remember its your car do whatever you want with it. If other guys don't like it then too freaking bad, they can do whatever they want to their own cars. You can always remove it if you don't like........the other look you can do is just add the polish rings to the dash and leave the rest alone if you are not feeling the overlays.

factory design is already good enough.

stock design is good. someone used white dash board with black interior. i feel ugly.

i thinku should spend money to get 2 seats since your seats look pretty old. and those motors may get worn out some day.

Stereo wise I have no real opinion on.
I do think you should NOT put CF overlay on it. I did when I first got mine years ago and then removed it.
I'm in the same boat that I can't afford Procar stuff and I won't do business with Kane(Ravi:mad:) so I will stick with what I have, which isn't much.

I totally disagree in your case. I think your interior looks CHERRY for 75k miles. Don't change a thing.

Oh, and I don't dig CF interior bits.

Hmmm, so what do you dig?

Your interior is in really good condition, better than mine anyway. So I understand your hesitation. In my case my interior is worn out and showing it's age, so the upgrade is less of a decision for me. It really depends on how much you want to spend. Since your interior is in good condition, I would just leave it alone or paint the CF console you have to match the color of the factory console. That may cost more money for painting, but at least it won't radically change the look of your interior.

Don't use those overlay stickers, get the real deal professional CF or CF overlays from Umbrella Designs.

Speaking of which, I'll be selling some my OEM interior parts next week or two. I'm replacing w/ OEM new pieces. NO CF in my interior.

I agree. If your budget allows then have your factory pieces professonally overlayed. Fact. pieces are a guaranteed fit. I especially like the carbon armrest and glove box Ravi offers.

Thanks for your posts and for voting... 23 so far and at this point 60% favor the Ipod adapter option. Hmmmm I had a feeling it might go that way. I guess the hard core stereo enthusiasts are the minority on this forum, but there is still plenty of time on the poll.

I was thinking that I should buy some used OEM door plates, center vent and ashtray door to apply the overlays to and keep mine so I can always revert to stock trim. That would probably be cheaper than refinishing the console. I think the HighlineAudio groupbuy is closed.

Please PM me if you have anything!

Thanks again
Dennis

Eddie your car looks sweet. I was checking it out at the canyon run and your stereo system sounds awesome. It makes me want to get mine done even more. Thanks, I appreciate it.

Anytime bud and remember the overlays arent bad at all as long as they look good and fit good. I think mine came out pretty nice since the previous owner did a good job with the pieces fitting perfectly and the weaves look nice too.

I do agree if you get bad quality ones with bad fit, then of course it will look like crap. Mine look fine to me, so I am happy.
