What does the amp box look like?

hey wass up guys!

so Im going to disconnect the connector for the center speaker from
the sub-woofer amp. I peeled back the carpet and I see a small black box
hanging on the top left before I remove the cover plate. Is that the amp box?
I was hoping that was it so I wouldnt have to unxcrew anything else.

Also, which connector do I disconnect? what color is it?

I also see a few connectors on the top right of the footwell, they're behind
the cover plate but I can still see em! are those the ones?

just trying to figure out if I can get away without having to unscrew too much. But if I end up removing the plate etc. anyone have a pic of the amp box and exact color/description of what I will see and disconnect?

thanks a bunch!

The amp is inside the actual speaker box assembly (which is brown) located behind the aluminum kick-plate. You can't just disconnect the centre speaker alone by unplugging one single connector. However if the centre speaker is wailing/popping, that is indicative of the amp being bad, so makes no difference to disconnect the whole thing anyway.
Best advice is to remove the whole assembly (the brown box behind the aluminum plate) and have it repaired - Briank on this forum offers such a service & extremely reasonably priced. If you're bold (not really much boldness required!) you can open up the speaker box assembly & remove just the amp, which will make shipping a whole lot easier & cheaper. (the speaker(s) themselves rarely, if ever, fail)

woohoo, got it!

so I got down there and unhooked everything and then
disconnected the 2 connectors on top. Then I re-connected the
one for the sub-woofer back and I can hear the sub but not
the tweeter, and there's NO burning anymore! :)

so does that mean it wasnt the amp? but the tweeter?

thanks guys for the help/directions.

The foot well speaker assy looks like this, its black.
The connectors are the two pin brown which is the
power and the 6 pin grey is the signal(s) in and ouput
to the speaker between the seats.
Which one did you disconnect ?

Exactly - it's impossible to disconnect either one and still have sound from the floor speaker & none from the middle.
Your amp is toast - send it to Brian to have him fix it for you.
