What's behind the center channel box?

I have searched and didn't come up wit an answer. The center speaker is small and there is a big moulded bulge between the seats. What is behind there? Is it actually empty? Is this an area that can hold a small amp for example?

Cam anyone help me with this? I have yet to take this apart. Are there any instructions on removing this panel? Again a search really gave me no good results.

i think there is a hump in the firewall to make the tunnel where the coolant pipes go above the fuel tank. I took that center panel out a couple of times but i really don't remember.

i'll try to search a interior picture from a build or something
