Guys....

I have been around for years, bought and sold 5 NSX's on or via Prime. What troubles me lately is the huge amount of ...

"My car MIGHT be for sale" or "My car is tenatively on the market"
to be almost assuredly with a "I've come to my senses..not for sale" or something like that.

Just my .02, but how bout post in the for sale section when it IS for sale..not ALMOST for sale, MIGHT be for sale.... it is confusing..people don't know you is serious and who is not. If you don't get what you want for the car... just relist it or not.. does not require the exit stories.

Am I wrong on this being a pattern lately?

Thanks..no offense to any..just trying to make Prime THE source.
Sam

Its called "fishing", when you get a high enough offer you sell it.

Nope..that is called an "auction"... we don't have those on prime. "Fishing"...right.. I know what they are doing... we all do..., no harm in it...problem is the forum is FOR SALE not "Fishing" ..just trying to keep the forum on topic (like the thread is now...not...) :)

NSXPrime truly is a reference board for the world.. in my opinion... That being said.. let them fish on ebay... here we need to be better...Let our users know that a car listed for sale here ..is actually for sale. We don't have auctions here.. leave that to Ebay..who does it quite well. I am a member on some Porsche sites, as I own those as well, and the best sites, very similiar in the content and info quality as Prime, had a run on this too a few years ago.. just wanted to try to derail a bad practice by talking about it...

Or, better yet, create a fishing forum... not a bad idea... then, if repsonse is good, list in the for sale ....

This kind of feedback is good.. please, any potential sellers (me again soon).. think before you post.. are you sure?

Thanks

sam, i think these guys are in shock when they don't sell the car in a week or two and the only way to EASE the shock is to say I did not want to sell it anyway. I sold my 93 a year ago but it took almost 12 months. I was in shock!!!!!! We need to remember that it takes a special person to own one of these cars and you should not be too concerned about how long it takes.

mine unfortunately sold in a few weeks...im buying another eventually.

I've had my car up for sale a couple times. One time it was because I was going to buy the new C6. So I put my car up for sale. I changed my mind in a week or two (came to my senses)
The second time I posted it for sale was because my wife and I wanted to build a home and the car sale (+ existing homes equity) would be a nice down payment. However, I knew I'd buy another NSX someday and I didn't want to go through another few months of searching for another perfect NSX...when I could keep the one I have!!

When you have $40+K sitting in the garage your mind starts to wonder. Especially when you have 3 subscriptions to car magazines and all the new technology is tempting you. It doesn't hurt anyone to put your car up for sale. You have an asking price and if your fishing to get so much out of the car the buyer can move on or pay up. Have you been turned down after offering someone their asking price? That would surprise me. However maybe you are more upset because you shot them a lower price and they said "I'd rather keep the car then sell it for that price".

The last issue is for us in the Midwest (or poor winter states). You have a car that sits 1/2 the year, it's easy to forget how much you love the NSX when you don't drive it for months at a time. Then you start thinking...."hummmm that new Nissan Titan looks pretty sweet....and I could drive it all the time" Then you go out to the garage and say "WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING!"

my .02 from the other side of the block....

I agree Newby.

Honestly, I flirted around with selling my NSX since day 1 of ownership! I always felt guilty having over $50k into something that just sat in the garage. The feeling of course went away after driving it, but then back to guilt when it sat for a while.

Anyway, it is my OPINION that Subwaysam is wining a bit for no reason. If people are torn to sell it, it is their right to test the waters, then both buyer and seller can evaluate what they want to do when the time comes.

I can honestly say my last "tentatively for sale" post would not have resulted in a sale, but the guy who came to look at the car was so freaking nice I did not want to string him along. I almost backed out of the deal but my wife kept saying that would be low.

Anyways, enough of my rambling....just pointing out that I sooo want another NSX. I should have kept Alexa!

Jack,

You sold me a great car and yes I came to my senses and decided I could not part with it. You express the situation very well in your post. These cars are incredible and it is not easy to find one you know has been kept pristine. You are a first class person and I hope other buyers can have as great an experience when they buy an NSX. You will find another I am sure and when you do, I want to see it.

Back to the NSX--you can never leave her
