Does anyone know how much I should expect to pay to have my gunnmetal finished wheels polished to look like the 97 and newer blades. I have them posted in the market section, would it worth me fixing them and then selling them for more, or am I just asking to much? Thanx

Chris

It usually costs $120-$150 per rim to refinish. As long as the rims are straight (i.e., not bent), I think that it's probably better to sell it "as is" with price reflecting the condition.

Please check the following place.

Wheels America charges $109/wheel.

I think it would be worth it to have them refinished, rather than selling a set of the '94-96 and buying a used set of the '97-01.

Hey Guys,

Great prices from great places. But..... I have a question. CP is asking about changing the wheel from gunmetal to the newer silver color.

I think you guys may be quoting pricing to have the wheels refinished as in "painted". They will look great, but not like new silver OEM wheels. I am not aware of a place that can actually fix then and have them really look like a new wheel.

Hopefully, I am wrong. I would really like to know of a place that can really make them new :).

Curious,
LarryB

I put them on e-bay (link in marketplace) I have a few offers for $1300 is this a good deal for me or should I hold out for more? I hope to have my new to me Volk TE37s powder coated white.

My understanding (from talking with the Wheels America folks, who had a booth at NSXPO 2002) is that that price is the same for all wheels and includes fixing and/or any refinishing you want - indeed, having them really look like a new wheel. I have the same understanding from my previous dealings with Transwheel, which does the same thing (primarily on a wholesale basis for dealers and shops, for a higher price).

Feel free to contact them and discuss the details. Let us know what you find out.

Depends on condition. If they're good - no curbing or other major chips or gouges - sounds slightly low but not ridiculously so.

Ken,

Thanks, I talked to Transwheel and they said if you put the OEM wheel side by side you could tell the difference.

However, Wheels America said you would NOT be able to tell the difference, even if the wheels had some curb rash, etc.

Cool:cool:

Thanks,

Larry and Ken, I am getting my 16/17's back from Wheels America tomorrow morning so I will have first hand info back to you then. Yes they do charge the same flat fee no matter what the condition or what they do (unless they paint with "hyper silver"). I bought them beautiful polished seven spokes. They were stripped, outer lips polished, inside of the spokes powdercoated sebring silver (same paint code) with the face of the spokes diamond cut, lugs and valve stem are chrome with a gunmetal center Acura cap. I elected to powdercoat clear the entire surface after that, sans the center cap. They do the work here on the Island so I was fortunate enough to experiment with the actual tech. Let you know tomorrow how they look and hopefully get some pictures at the River Run

I wonder whether they were referring to a difference meaning possible differences in color or texture, vs a difference meaning that it did/didn't look like new. I have seen wheels refinished by Transwheel and they looked perfect, just like new - but it's possible that you might have seen a slight difference in color or texture matching.

I suspect that Transwheel and Wheels America meant the same thing...

Ken,

TransWheel said if they did all four, you would never know. Only if you actually set a brand new one and theirs side by side. (Maybe they meant with a microscope :))

So it sounds like your interpretation is correct. I am disappointed since I Had a whell "refinished", obviously at the WRONG place!!

Thanks,
LarryB

Why not just buy the white TE37s?

For $550 per rear wheel I think is going to be more cost effective to pay $1300 for all four used and silver, since I still need $1500 for the tien RAs.
I would gladly sell the silver ones if you would like to donate the diff so I can get factory white TE37s ;)

What ever happened here? I am considering doing same thing.
