Hi, I am trying to find some 17/18 techno's for the track. Iam not finding anything. Can anyone help with suggestions regarding wheels that will fit with my Comptech 13" powertech brakes????

I seem to remember 17/17 setup having a better selection of tires to chose from, versus 17/18 sizes.

Available tire sizes for the NSX rears are never a problem, it's always the lack of optimal sizes for the fronts. The reason some people stay with 17's in the rear is for better performance weight savings and down the line tire price savings. I do agree however that with staggered 18" rears, the NSX looks more aggressive.

No matter the brand and type (ie., track tires)?

In another thread, Tirerack reports that the SSR GT1's will fit the Brembo kit.

Another reason to have this . :D

That depends on which tires you're interested in. Many of the most popular track tires, including the Yokohama A032R and the Kumho Victoracer V700, are not available in 18" sizes.

Kip, I have yet to purchase a set of tires for the Techno's....

The RA1's won't fit the rears, so I have a true dilemma.

Fortunately, the car won't be ready for at least two weeks, so I have some time.

As stated previously....I really got LUCKY finding mine. Romeo (ATL) is one hell of a guy! Unfortunately, he won't part with his 2nd set of Techno's. But he said that he'd call me first if/when he does.

I'm always looking out for ya' my man!

Very true - although there are some issues with matching fronts with rears. Some of the popular track tires are available in 205/40-17, which will work for the front. Any size larger than that is usually a 225 or larger treadwidth and a 45 or larger aspect ratio that is almost certain to rub on full compression (unless you're willing to remove your fender liners or put on a widebody kit). Few track tires are available in rear sizes narrower than a 275/35-18. A 205/40-17 front with a 275/35-18 rear will work in terms of the outer diameters and TCS. However, that's a 70 mm "stagger" (difference between front treadwidth and rear), which is quite a bit larger than the stock 20-40 mm (depending on year).

I believe that most folks are using 17"/18" wheels (or larger) for their street tires, and they switch to track tires mounted on wheels that are smaller than that - 15"/16" or 16"/17" or 17"/17".

Hey Brian,

why the rear won't fit? We don't have problem with the rears.

Kip,
we might have a set for sale soon. Although they are not in the greatest condition cosmetic-wise.
