Any body know about the latest news?
Is the exterior change going to be this 2002 model or 2003 model? Thank you

This topic has already been discussed:

From what we know, there is an updated body style coming out @ the Tokyo auto show in the fall. This will include covered headlights similar to what is on this years RSX. If you look at the pics scanned in from R&T, you'll see that they expect a much bigger (and uglier IMHO) rear wing. Possibly other slightly changed exterior pieces too.

The big NSX change is gonna happen for 2003, with an upgraded engine, body, and who knows what else. This is the big one that most folks are waiting for, and the updated model in 2002 is really just there to get people salivating for the 2003 major update.

The fact that we all stress here is that nothing is for sure until we see a REAL picture of the 2002 model - which has yet to be provided for.

I'd be surprised if the new NSX came out as a 2003 model. As I understand it, due to the Tokyo Auto Show schedule, major announcements/releases are usually made every other year, rather than every year. As such, if the reskinned NSX is unveiled as expected this fall, we probably couldn't expect the next model for two years after that. That would make the reskin a 2002 model, with the redesign a 2004, possibly available in late 2003.

What do you think please?
Should I buy the new 2001 model now or should I wait & I buy the 2002?
When do you think the 2002 model coming to dealer?

hmmm.... what YOU think is what is important here. would you rather be driving around in a nsx now or wait indefinitely for the "new" nsx? rumors of the “new” nsx have been out there for at least 2 years now, and all to date have either been false or unproven. who’s to say the current rumors in R+T, etc are accurate? once the announcement of definitive release date is made, are you prepared to be on waiting lists, pay above msrp, etc. to own one? I would imagine the new nsx will be as difficult to buy as the new m3. if you are okay with all I have outlined above perhaps you should wait. If not, then I think the answer is clear.

This is very similar to the situation I was in 4 years ago. If you recall, rumors of a 2000 release for the 2nd generation NSX were flying around and I seriously considered holding out and saving up for it.

Needless to say, it still hasnt materialized. Fortunately for me, I couldnt wait any longer and just bought a used one in 98. So while there are those people are still waiting for the new model, Im busily enjoying the current one... suckers =)

Even if you have bad timing and buy one the year before the big release, you can always trade it in a few years later and get the new one after the bugs have been ironed out (remember the snap ring).

Recently made the same decision myself. I decided I wanted to drive an NSX now, so I bought the 01'. I love the car!

I usually buy cars, but this time I leased. Kind of a price protection in case the 'new' model hurts resale. That and Honda's 4 year lease offering has a 56% residual, which I thought was a good deal.

the refreshed NSX is out in 02. at best a new re-designed model would not be forthcoming for 2/3 years after. With the US economy is its present state, it would be tough to sell above MSRP. Also as a rule of thumb, never buy the first year model, let someone pay for ironing out the defects. Even if it is a Japanese mfrs like Honda or Toyota, do not expect a defect free model first year. Remember that NSX will still be built by hands. Given you are a few months away from the Tokyo show, hold off making the decision on new unless you are offered blow out price on an in-stock unit that been floor planned for months. Also in the car business, last year model is generally the best as all defects etc. been ironed out. So a new 01 may not be a bad choice if you want it so badly. Good hunting!!

Since we're revivng old threads... just thought I would let you know that the models came out in 02'...
