I think there was a thread on this awhile back but I was unable to find it. I have a set of early model factory 15/16 5 spoke wheels and a set of the later 7 spoke 16/17 wheels. I dont need both and wanted to try a few track days. Which set would be better to use on my 92 for the track? Which have better tire options? If it matters my car is lowered with eibach springs. Thanks

...and it's true of R compound track tires as well as street tires.

Another advantage of using track tires in the original '91-93 stock sizes is that you can fit all four track tires inside the car, and drive to the track on your street tires.

and the 16/17 can get you pretty good money for trying a set (or 2) 15/16 tires... I don't think you will need the wider setup until you moved up to advance group and at the point of squeezing the last half a second lap time.

I will recommend a good set of street dry tires (cheap) for starter then RA1 when you are with the top runners in intermediate group. Both are very easy on your wallet.

Thanks for the help. In that case I will have a set of 16/17for sale with brand new tires. How do you fit all 4 wheels in the car?

Put rear wheel/tire in the trunk. Put small stuff on passenger side floor. Move passenger seat full forward. Put front wheel/tire behind passenger seat. Move seat backward (it will only move a tiny bit). Put rear wheel/tire on passenger seat standing up, alongside console. Put front wheel/tire on passenger seat between rear wheel/tire and door.
