whistling

hi everyone. I just got my air intake installed its The Cantrell Concepts Airflow Induction System from SOS. my question is if its normal to hear whistling sound during acceleration and also a whistling sound that last maybe 5 seconds after i shut off the car. the sound that can be heard can be easly replicated by simply putting your lips together two make a whistling sound but inhaling instead of exhaling.

I called Seth 10 min after I installed mine and asked the same question. Yes sucking happens continuously. I would not describe the sound as a whistle though...more of a super sucker sound. Maybe a slight whistle as well I just went outside and listened again. I got use to the sound after 3 days.

I installed the same set-up and have the same sound. The sound after you turn the car off is from the car equalizing pressure according to SoS, this is normal. I took the UNI filter out and replaced with the OEM filter and the sound and whistle went away, so that eliminated a bad install of the intake. I think the whistling is just a characteristic of the increased airflow, so I plan to put my UNI filter back in. I hear it intermitently when I step on the power especially when the VTEC kicks in.


THIS IS A WILD GUESS I STILL NEED TO TEST. - I might try to wipe the oil off the black RUBBER frame of the UNI filter, a wild guess, but maybe air passing over this seal could be causing the whistle. Maybe removing the oil will stop the whistle, if not I will just live with it.

even the stock car makes a similar noise when you turn off the car.

My bone stock 1998 makes a distinct "whistling/air sucking" sound when I accelerate (I can really hear it in 3rd and 4th gear when the windows are up and the roofpanel is on) as well as after I shut the car off. I assumed it was the intake and perfectly normal.
