Will JDM market stereo work in the US Model NSX??

So this morning I decided that I really want to do the 'Honda' conversion to my NSX so that it can represent its true roots, and with the problems I am having with my current head unit, a JDM one is in the cards. My question is if anyone here has actually used a JDM head unit in their US market NSX and had it work? I love music, so I need a head unit that fully functions, and this would also help complete the conversion. Thank you for your help.

If I'm not mistaken, I do believe that the FM (not sure about AM) frequency range is different, so you won't get full functionality there.

Edit: It appears that in Japan, the FM frequency range is 76 - 90 MHz while in the U.S. it's 88 - 108 MHz.

Here's a solution. Not sure if you can get it locally.

I have an EU Honda head unit and it works fine over here.

The FM dial is 88-108 and it is 1MHZ increments.
There is a mid frequency that doesn't apply.
The AM (LF) is one 1KHZ off, but works fine.

It has RDS (scrolling text) and TPA (or something) that I can't figure out what it does.

The system does not have the diversity antenna input and doesn't pull a signal as well as the USDM unit.

/I'm probably going to replace this thing when the new nVidia nav system arrives.

TPA is for automated traffic information (i think).

It is not competible. Ben on prime confirmed it for me. I just did the conversion by finding a used Honda Bose Cassette player from older Accord. I replace the door. You need to be careful if you go that route, it can be tricky.

It is possible to remove the faceplate of the JDM radio and swap it with a chassis from a U.S. radio. I did this on mine and it works well.
There is a problem with some buttons not lighing up when the cd changer is being used (this is from memory as my car is in storage at the moment).

Good luck,
Gene
