Today I'm at the store... NSX parked 9 miles from the front door as usual... no cars within 250 feet of the car. If you were to take a picture of where it was parked.. it would look like a lunar landscape. A storm starts brewing while I'm in the store... I end up running back to the car in a down pour. No big deal... just a little wet. As I fire up the car and kick on the A/C, I hear a loud BOOM that scares the crap out of me! I look to the left. The storm winds sent a shopping cart into the drivers side door and put a nickel sized dent in the door. It also turned the rearview mirror sideways and scuffed it.
Wal-Mart management actually took an accident report and came out and took pictures. They said I should be contacted in a day or two..... and that since it happened in a storm, they should cover it... I sure hope so.:frown:

If the paint hasn't been damaged, you might be able to have it repaired by a PDR (paintless dent repair) specialist, which is preferable to repainting.

Scuff marks can often be buffed out with swirl mark remover (you can get Meguiar's #9 Swirl Mark Remover 2.0 at most big auto parts stores).

Good luck, sorry to hear...

I avoid Walmart like the plague while I'm in the NSX. As a matter of fact, I avoid anywhere there's shopping carts in gernarl, some department stores, grocery stores, etc.

Sounds to me like 20-20 hindsight. I've been to plenty of department stores and grocery stores with my NSX, and have parked where there's plenty of room like Phi did, without any problems whatsoever.

He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Sheer luck, and the same thing could have happened anywhere - if not with a shopping cart, then with a tree branch or hail or something else.

Re: You've gotta be Fu*%ing Kidding me!

I was walking out of a K-Mart one day many years ago, the parking lot was almost empty except for a brand spanking new BMW sitting right in the middle.
Some homeless looking person driving a piece of crap little datsun bomb goes screaming through the parking lot, diagonally, and creams a shopping cart. The cart goes flying through the parking lot and just caves in the passenger side door of the BM Trouble You. I try to catch the license plate numbers and get all but the last 1 or 2. I go inside (this was before cell phones), call the cops, give them what I have, then go outside to leave a note on the poor car, and while I was in the store, the owners had went out to their car and left.

It also happen to me in my integra...sorry to hear about it!!! I hope they take care of it.

Re: You've gotta be Fu*%ing Kidding me!

I had a Walmart experience like that.. but it wasn't a cart it was a Honda Civic. Some guy failed to put the e-brake on and strolled inside. after a few minutes the car just rolled backwards. Almost crushed me as I was loading groceries in the back. I heard it quietly rolling and turned around and tried to stop it to no avail - too much momentum. Good thing I took the Volvo SUV and not the NSX that day. Broken tail light.

Taking a NSX to Walmart.... isn't that like wearing a tuxedo to McDonalds?

Re: You've gotta be Fu*%ing Kidding me!

There was a whole chain about parking lot safety measures...
Never park near a drain (low spot). Always park at or near the highest spot away from crowds...at least then GRAVITY is on your side.

Re: You've gotta be Fu*%ing Kidding me!

You guys were right. Wal-Mart is only responsable if there are an excessive # of carts in the lot or the cart returns are packed full or over flowing. I'm heading to the Dent-Popper-Outer-Guy right now. Wish me luck.

hope it buffs out.

I had that happen to me when I owned a GSR. My dent was about the size of a softball. Some of those paintless dent repair guys are pretty amazing. Mine turned out great. Good luck!
