...so my mom needs hearing aids and obviously the 4-6k$ options are discouraging.I have heard costco sell reasonable aids...our local sam's does not..I'm interested if anyone here has had good experience with buying on line say from amazon and which one?

A good friend of mine just got the Costco hearing aids, and is absolutely thrilled with them. Join Costco (or have mom join) and "just do it"!!!
