Trofeo v Sport Cup 2

Hey everyone. I'm new to this forum, have had my NSX for a bit now. And I hate the tires that came with the car (Continental All Weathers).

Was debating between the Sport Cup 2s and the Pirelli Trofeo. I don't track the car, all city driving. But I want something with better traction and grip. My concern with the Cup 2s is that they would require too much "warm up" time. Would that be the same for the Pirellis? Anyone here try both?

How about the PSS4. I've had Cup2s on my daily before and they wear very fast. The PSS4 definitely handles better than the crappy Conti's that we have, and they will last longer than the Cup2.

I have been thinking about going with PS4S after the Continentals wear out.

Acura seems to have a less than perfect relationship with Michelin, and the PS4S has not been validated by Acura.

My understanding is that another Michelin tire failed Acura's repeat mount/dismount testing and when asked to address the issue with redesign, Michelin did not continue to participate.

B&B, you would know better than I but I heard the rumor it was a supply issue which caused Michelin to fall off the list. I don't have any concrete evidence of this.
I have been thinking about going with PS4S after the Continentals wear out.

Acura seems to have a less than perfect relationship with Michelin, and the PS4S has not been validated by Acura.

My understanding is that another Michelin tire failed Acura's repeat mount/dismount testing and when asked to address the issue with redesign, Michelin did not continue to participate.
 
I was told by the dealer that R comps cannot be used on NSX? Is this true?

no because the car comes with optional dot R track tires as RYU mentioned
 
I believe Michelin's winter tire is still on the Acura validated list.

I will ask about the supply chain point when I speak with the NSX Specialist.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I guess I should have said that I want the best street tire for the car. I thought the Cups and Trofeos were that, but the feedback I'm getting from people off (and it sounds like here too) this forum is that it really is a track tire that is street legal. I just really HATE the Continentals.

I agree that the Conti's suck. Even in dry, warm weather, my car gets sideways on straight line acceleration.

The conti’s suck. Granted it has not been over 40 degrees in ny, but the car loses traction all the time. So ps4 stick to the road? I had Bridgestone pole positions on my r8 and they were real good. Not sure if they fit nsx

Abovedeck - where are you having problems with grip? Does wet performance matter to you?
 
Billy, I get a little sideways just going straight and giving the car full throttle in Sport mode when I shift myself. My tire pressures are at the factory recommended pressure. In Sport+ my car steps out after a turn and I make sure that I've already straightened out the steering wheel before getting on the throttle. It's a bit unnerving to say the least.

I don't care about wet performance, I live in Los Angeles and drive the G when it's raining.

I don't know how to describe it, but I feel like the fronts are on their tippy toes when I'm pushing hard through turns. And I'm not happy with all around grip.
 
I don't have much street time in the NSX so it's hard to relate to how the car acts when putting down power on cold tires. Since you won't be driving in the rain, try the TrofeoRs.
 
I can confirm that the Contis suck donkey balls. I lose the rear quite often.

PS4S will be ordered soon.
