Anyone to C&C tomorrow?
D

Only NSX at the C&C, did get a bit of attention from the younger crowd. Lots of neat new things, thought Mungenast or Leta might bring a new one, but NOT. Time for this, with a couple of spots reserved for some old ones. So tickled with the performance of the Dragon Lady since Mungenast's top NSX tech did his magic. Read the earlier post. Quiet as can be till the VTEC kicks in.
Hope to see a couple of you guys out there.

Anyone going this Saturday? Attended FLC's last week, not as big, but really crowded. Had to parallel park on the street, not a problem, just thinking however, when was the last time you parallel parked? Getting to be a rare skill, along with driving a 5 speed. <GGG>
D

Man, I feel awful about this but I can not make this one either. The HKS exhaust I installed last spring has blown open and the car sounds awful! I have a new Circuit Werks exhaust on the way but it can't be installed until next week. I haven't been to the Westport C&C since the first one this year - met Rahul there. I seriously hope to make the next one, or at least one before the season is over. Rahul, Tyler, are you going?

I only put 1500 miles on the X last year, VS about 5,000 - 6,000 every year before. I'm still dealing with a weird engine shut-off issue... started last December and it just chits off, check engine light on, restarts and runs fine immediately engine light goes off. It does it maybe once every third time I drive it. I get an O2 sensor code and a fuel pump code. I have checked all the wiring, connections, grounds, etc. and have replaced every possible component except the fuel pump itself - have that on hand and may pull the trigger. It's just annoying at this point but I'm afraid it's not going to restart some day.

I haven't parallel parked the NSX since the last time I gouged the right rear wheel, about 8 years ago :-> And 5-speeds are a great millenial anti-theft device.

Hope to meet up with you guys some time. Geez.

Just for the record, have replaced two things after something similar happened about 4 years ago on the way back from C&C. 1) OXY sensor, took a lot to get it out, perhaps original, and...............
2) Top half of the ignition switch Can"t remember the cost, but it wasn't even close to what a full new one would have cost.
D

Yes, thanks Don! I forgot to mention that part. I've had that in inventory for a couple of years since it's a known failure. I'm replacing that too - gave it a shot but couldn't get into that tight footwell enough to see everything, so I'll have my Honda/NSX guy do it. Also have a small engine oil leak, think it's the oil pan gasket or maybe a valve cover - I'll just get it all done on one trip.

My HKS exhaust system blew open (it was a used part anyway), so I just got a new Circuit Werks system and it's going on this week. Dual mufflers with a crossover, two single tailpipes, all polished stainless. Hopefully if the electrical issue is fixed and the oil leak can be fixed, I'll just be able to drive for a while!

Cars n' coffee this am at Westport with a couple of old time friends, then breakfast in St. Charles at Lady Di's. If you have never been, you owe it to yourself. Lightly attended, looked like rain. 1 new Gen 2 there, but no one around. Would love to have about 5 or 10 minutes with one, just to feel the speed and handling. Didn't bring the Dragon Lady. As we drove to the other side of the river, through Creve Coeur park, the All British Show was in full blossom. Could not believe the number of cars, ( we couldn't stop, on a time schedule ) both on display and arriving from the West. Looked to be a couple of hundred at least.

Man, your killing' me Don  I feel like I'm always making excuses, but this weekend it was a major tech upgrade (internet, phones, TV) at the office and shop. Just finished upgrading everything about an hour ago. I heard elsewhere that the Brit show was fantastic and huge! Frankly I'm a little burned out on the C&C scene - a lot more rich snobs than there used to be. But I'll give it another try hopefully before this season is over! Hope you're doing well otherwise!

I believe I have my engine quitting issue resolved. Threw some parts at it that seemed to be related to the code, and it hasn't done it again in several hundred miles. I also had my HKS exhaust blow open so I replaced it with a Circuit Werks, which is no louder that the HKS or the previous Comptech, but has a really nice low end growl and I'd swear more power from the crossover design.

Dave,
I too am missing the gang, and having trouble making these gatherings, though we've made 2 this year at WP and 1 ea at Arnage and Fast Lane. I get out to F L which has become the expensive one, with the Lambos and Ferraris, at least once a week as it's a good short and time saving excursion for the Dragon Lady. Allows me to get to op temps and zip out and back home in 45 min to an hour along with some opportunities for full throttle acceleration. <ggg>Also, can get a snack lunch with the samples at Costco in St. Peters <GGG></ggg>

So Don, are you saying that there's a Ferrari/Lambo meet every week at Fast Lane? Seems like whenever I have a free Saturday there's nothing going on

Dave,
Nope. Fast Lane hosts the second Saturday of the month get together. Check out the schedule on Cars & Coffee on their website. From my personal experience this year, the big bucks cars are at the Arnage location (1st Saturday) and Fast Lane (2nd Saturday) though there were a few at Westport this weekend (3rd Sat.) including the Gen 2 and at least 3 or 4 Kia Stingers a couple modded, which were a surprise to one of my friends in his 90's. "I thought KIA made $3,000 cars"
I've got to make sure that I bring the Dragon Lady to the October meet, as it always gets a bit of attention coming in.
My impression this weekend, was that due to the look of the rain, none of the older conservative guys made it. Few classics. A lot of young recents. It changes on a monthly basis, which is what makes it special.

Yo, St Louis!!!
Anyone planning being at Westport on Saturday for the Cars n Coffee 3rd Saturday meet and greet? We haven't see many of you all for a long time. Hopefully no rain, I plan on washing the Dragon Lady tomorrow AM just to get ready, hope to see some of you all. Was told I missed someone at Fast Lane last Saturday. From the description of the car, couldn't figure out who.
Blessings,
Don

I am planning on being at Westport this Saturday, with my 8-year-old Supercar fan grandson in tow. We'll give the NSX a quick wash on Friday afternoon. It would be great to see you Don, and maybe Rahul, Ty et al!

Dave,
Look forward to seeing you. Right now, planning to be there. Dragon Lady had a bath this week. Didn't use the vacuum however, maybe today............meh. Anyone else up for this, anyone, anyone, Buehler, Buehler, anyone.

Dave,
Sorry we missed you this am. Saw what I thought was Lawrence's black one pull in and park right down the row from my daily driver. Discovered what I think is a front wheel bearing problem on the Dragon Lady last nite on the way home so waiting to take it in till my guru comes back from his 5 days off.
Had a short talk with Simon who said you were going to be 10 minutes, but that "it was a lot longer than that". You know how Grandpa's are, <ggg> I are one. <GGG> Left my card with him.

Saw that there was a Casino White Gen2 there, parked between the Lambo's, but he left early with them, one could hear them leave the lot, meh.

Blessings,
Don</ggg>

Hi Don! Yes, Simon said he talked with you and gave me your card, thanks! He was up late at our house the night before and kind of tired, but I was definitely no more than 10 minutes :-> His folks picked him up and he had a great time seeing everything. He swore he saw a Pagani pull in (8-year-old wishful thinking :->) Yes, I saw the black one but that was a kid from Farmington, really nice car. 7Tcatvert was there right behind me with a blue Mitsubishi. Did you see the Imola Orange car a row ahead of me? Repaint with a rough interior but presentable. Also saw the Gen 2 and the Lambos right before they pulled out, and I agree, meh. Sorry I missed you, and good luck with the wheel bearing. I just did the fronts last spring. I finally fixed the engine dying issue with mine - based on the code, I threw a few relays and resistors at it and the issue is gone. Now I have a very small but annoying oil leak somewhere at the front/right of the engine and will address that next. My used HKS exhaust blew open a few months ago and I replaced it with with a Circuit Werks/Prime unit, which sounds better than the HKS or the Comptech that was on before, very happy with it. Hope to see you some time? It would also be great to see Rahul and Tyler and others (HINT).

Dave,
Would look forward to seeing you and hearing the new exhaust. Only objection to changing for yours truly would be a droning at cruise. Didn't see the Imola Orange one. Know that someone from Springfield IL has one, that has a modded radio system, and he shows up once in a while here at Westport.
Haven't seen or talked to either Ty or Rahul in a while. Am going to nurse the DL down to Mungenast in the AM. She is velvet quiet (OEM) until the VTEC kicks in. Amazes everyone at the smooth, quiet and almost sedan like (not really), comfortable cabin with the windows up, but they also appreciate the waist grabbing seat bolsters on an accelerated turn. Take good care, Simon was a delight to talk to.

Saturday C&C could come up as doable temp and weather wise at Westport. Anyone going?

Dragon lady is limping with one bad rear shock. Awaiting a pair of OEM's late this month. Considered Bilsteins, but want to keep her totally OEM. Next owner can work the rest out, we've replaced a lot of things that most owners don't even think of, including the Targa seals around the cockpit which are a king's ransom to do.
D

I had rotor cuff surgery last week, so no shifting for me until next year. I waited until the end of car show season to have it done. Hoping by the spring can start tracking again

Too much salt on the street. Still awaiting the OEM shocks as well. Hope we have a good amount of rain tonite so that I can get the shocks replaced this week, pending the receipt of the parts. TLX in for the second oil change.
D

New shocks installed, major difference in performance, less noise etc. You know the drill. We're up to date so far, now if we can only get the temps up, and the salt off the street, another venture. C&C this weekend at Westport, anyone going?
D

Coming home from Church NYE, at 2nd and Clark St. Charles, Casino White Gen 2 waiting for us to turn in front of them, but needed to let it pass to make sure.
ID please, you need to be a part of us here.

Happy New Year,

Don

Looking forward to a little more warm weather. Dragon Lady out on Sunday and Monday. Has been suggested to register as classic car w/value statement, to obtain savings overall from just standard policy. Anyone have any input on cost of annual coverage? Know that antique classification limits mileage.
Blessings,
Don

Grundy

I have all 6 of mine with Grundy. Had Hagerty but they raised my NSX price up and switched over. All mine have classic plates and never been questioned on mileage just need to make sure it was garaged.

The rate you pay depends on what value you place on the car. They will ask for pictures.

Welllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll. 60 up here, and a request to go the Valley Outlet Mall, (Vera Bradley store, only way to get my wife to ride) Enjoyed the ride, sure as hell beats $250 an hour for a psychologist. Dragon lady running well, looking at spring, some new front shocks, perhaps tires and a detail to bring her to top condition. Need to do something about the driver's seat, but hesitate putting that much into new leather for the whole car when it's just a few places. Anyone else tempting the Gods of the Winter? Got to keep the flat spots off the tires. Think that it's been at least the beginning of February since she'd been out.
