    Amplifier Quadruplet Repair

Just re-measured the impedance of the speakers and they are indeed 1 Ω - above calculation has been adapted.

    Amplifier Quadruplet Repair

Thanks @Honcho, the next three amplifiers are already waiting ..

    Amplifier Quadruplet Repair

There is an equation to roughly calculate the RMS power output of a Class D full bridge amplifier (such as the ones in the NSX): P = (U/√2)²/R Let's take 12 V for U and 1 Ω for R (the impedance of the speakers) and we get: P = 72 W (per amplifier) Since there a three amplifiers in the NSX...

    Amplifier Quadruplet Repair

Together with the CCU from the last post, four amplifiers (two subwoofer, two door amplifiers) arrived. All of them were in non-working condition, three had previous repairs done to them. It probably doesn't make much sense to describe each repair in detail so let's focus on the more interesting...

CCU Service and Repair - No Operation

The cluster from a previous post came in a box with an additional, non-working CCU. It had been worked-on previously and some unknown clear coat was applied, covering a lot of capacitor liquid damage: After removal of all capacitors the PCB was given a good scrub of the affected areas, down...

    Gauge cluster rebuild?

Please note that it might be sufficient to use Google Maps or any GPS based speed measuring device to check the accuracy of the cluster. If it's less than +7 mph off it's still in an acceptable range. The need for re-calibration normally comes up if the calibration pots have been touched before...

EU Radio Head Unit (EUDM 1991) - Repair

Unfortunately there is no standard fix but all parts that are still available can be ordered from digikey or mouser.

A lot of traffic here 🤓

Cluster Service and Repair - Brake System Warning permanently on

Around march, a cluster from France arrived with the famous "permanent brake system warning" and about 70.000 km of roads travelled. Using the tester, the issue was confirmed quickly. RPM values were ~500 too high, speed about 10 km/h too much. Illumination bulbs were darkened but all working -...

    Gauge cluster rebuild?

Technical spoken, it should be drivable. Besides some very basic logic functionality. The cluster is mostly a passive device that displays information and provides very little functionality on its own.

EU Radio Head Unit (EUDM 1991) - Repair

Usually around a few hundred Euro but the chances of success are roughly 50/50 (due to age and damage from capacitor leakage) and considering the costs for shipping/tax to and from the USA it's often uneconomical from outside the EU, to be truely honest ..

Replacement for Q9 on 91 NSX CCU board

These adapter PCBs were readily available from eBay - no PCB design work this time 😉

Replacement for Q9 on 91 NSX CCU board

Old post but created a little write-up on successfully replacing Q9 and Q10 with matching SMD transistors and adapter PCBs: http://www.nsxcb.co.uk/entry.php?2751-Climate-Control-Unit-%28CCU%29-Repair&comments

Solution for low AC and clock lights ?

By the way, the orange display of the NSX is created (at least on the radio) by a filter on top of a bright blue/green display.

Solution for low AC and clock lights ?

The CCU is certainly special but I'm wondering if the Honda Prelude clock might have the same VFD display as the NSX clock?
