Replace Trans Fluid

I know there are many posts on the Forum related to trans fluid; my quandary however is:
replacing the trans fluid is fairly straight-forward (IMO); the problem I am running into is, I do not have a 'lift' in my garage, I can only put the car on ramps.
To me this is not going to completely drain all of the old fluid.

My question to you guys is: has anyone replaced the trans fluid by this method (backing the car up on ramps) ?

If you do a search and use DanO this has been covered 57 times before.

I did mine just sitting in the garage as is. No ramps, jack or anything. Use a ratchet to break the drain plug loose (no socket required, just stick the ratchet in the hole in the face of the plug). I laid on my back & kicked it with my leg slid under the car. Make sure you break the fill plug loose FIRST so you're not stuck if you drain it & then can't refill it.

Hmm great! TYVM TyraNSX! :)

didn't think I could w/o the rear-end raised;

again - TYVM!

No problem. Keep in mind I'm 6' 5" tall & kind of skinny so check your reach 1st before undoing the fill plug. It's a tight fit under the car & a little of a reach.

Last question:
after you added the new trans fluid, did you go through the small opening in the engine-bay to put the Fill-Plug back in OR from underneath ?

Thank you

I went from the plug underneath. You may want to pull the small filter and give it a quick clean. Mine was'nt real dirty but it's peace of mind and an extra 6 minutes.

I can't remember for sure but I think above.

I recently did this as the fluid was two years old, alas less than 4 thousand miles. I used a funnel with a lenght of clear hose attached. I put a latex glove on the end of the hose to avoid getting dirt on it, then slid it in place from the top of the engine bay. is a fool proof thing as as soon as the fluid has reach the right level it seeps out.

ALL -
thank you for the responses! I honestly didn't realize I could replace the tranny fluid w/o the need to raise the car or back it up on ramps.
:)

appreciate the input very much,
Merry Christmas

All i did was use the OEM car jack,, lifted it high enough so i could losen the nuts not remove them,, then lowered the car a little lower than normal to help the draining process,, then raised the car back to the normal ( with tire on ) height then filled till it was dripping outta the hole,, put the bolts back in the drain/fill bolts and put my tire back on, and test drove it,, done!! dont need a ramp,, use the OEM car jack!! I use it for all kinds of stuff, LOL
