I had a fully functional upgrade that I did 8 years ago.
- new head unit, Alpine DVA-9860 (DVD deck)
- new speakers with Alpine PDX-4.100 and subwoofer (in pass footwell)
- parrot bluetooth for phone
- Alpine MP3 changer
- Alpine Blackbird nav with dock
- Alpine TME-M770 screen (for nav) mounted in JDM nav pod
- back up camera

All functioned well but needed improvement.
- the bluetooth was hard to hear on both ends. Not a good interface :mad:
- iPod function was not fully functioning with current iPod/iTunes
- Nav was not supported since 2010
- Alpine TME-M770 took FOREVER to enter nav addresses

Could have left it alone and gone but...
I saw a Crutchfield featuring decks with Apple Car Play.
- App based nav+
- bluetooth integrated into deck+

So I purchased a Alpine iLX-007.
I thought it would fit, until I took off the JDM nav pod. I forgot how the dash was shaped, its too small.
unless I could take the Alpine iLX-007 apart. So, I did. Then it took me 3 months to source a cable to separate the face.
In the meantime, I also purchased another Pioneer deck Pioneer AppRadio4.

Long story short...while waiting for the cable for the Alpine, I got impatient and took apart the Pioneer. I found that the cable for the Pioneer was available on ebay from someone selling misc flat screen parts.

In this process I will remove
1 parrot bluetooth + box
1 iPod adapter + changer switch box
1 screen + input box
1 nav dock

add
1 screen + remainder of head unit

So far...
- I have installed the Pioneer screen into the nav pod
- taken apart the rest of the case to reduce size
- relocated the fan & heat sink on the head unit
- fabricated new box for head unit

Look like quite a bit of work and costly. But now you will have it most updated maps.
Alpine is great but poorly supported on their software, which is sad.

Look forward to see result.

The main unit, which is now 2/3 of original size, will either fit in the center with the DVA-9860 or in the passenger foot well.
I had a nice stainless steel case made for it.

Very cool to see the appradio 4 be able to fit in the navpod.

Frees up a lot of room on the center console for other possible things.
