Der Spiegel has published reports saying that a Porsche Cayenne diesel
model operates in different modes depending on whether it's being driven on
the road or an a test stand, and only meets German emissions standards
when in a test environment. This is reminiscent of the cheating VW
got caught doing, although the Cayenne diesel supposedly has more
sophisticated software to decide which mode to run in. Also, while the
Cayenne's emissions reported by Spiegel are over German limits, they're
not as egregiously high as in the VW models caught cheating in the USA.

Spiegel has a ten minute video (German language) showing the test procedure

They drive with a laptop interfaced to the car's electronics that shows
in real time when the car is switching modes.

Porsche denies that the mode switching is intended to cheat on emissions
tests and insists that the Cayenne is in compliance with emissions laws.
Spiegel seems pretty confident in their reporting, they say they got a tip
from an insider. Their video ends with a remark along the lines of
let's see how long Porsche's claim (of innocence) lasts for.

It could be a while before there's definitive word on whether Porsche is indeed cheating.
The German transport ministry has ordered an investigation; see (English language)
