Ok so I'm finally home after my drive from Phoenix to Vegas.

SOS Supercharger and new intercooler 10/10. I was going to say 9/10 because I got used to the acceleration on the way back here. No I got used to the acceleration in 3rd and 4th gear.

Because I didn't want to look like a jackass or be embarrassed if something went wrong.... I was very gentle in first gear with only moderate outbursts in second gear on my way back. I did have to do some runs in third and (a little in fourth) to gauge the freeway/hwy power.

So still in Arizona I did some 6k to 8K (~72 to 100) runs in third and avg around 3.05 seconds to complete. Caveats......its was not at sea level and its hot as hell outside plus I was carrying around 30-40 pound of parts from my old engine and the supercharger build in the trunk....so could be faster. Could not really do any fourth gear runs as the car just wanted to take off... no drop off in acceleration like stock.

The noise at idle is like a light sinister breathing noise .... very cool. The new RPS twin carbon clutch makes a light swirling noise when disengaged that complements the sound. At take-off these sounds with the AIS is incredible..... like a hissing snake (think king cobra) taking off for the strike.

The noise when you drive.....from the supercharger......nothing at steady-state. If you give it part-throttle there is this screw-like light sound which is cool (to me). At full throttle its a whine like the comptech but not as loud.

The exhaust noise is awesome. The supercharger makes the exhaust note fuller, bigger, deeper, and more refined...at all the times esp in the midrange. I didn't expect that. Must steal line from Robocop to describe:
"I LIKE IT: biggrin:"

Ok why 10/10 and not 9/10 due to getting used to the acceleration. Got to Vegas and decided to due a full throttle second gear. Wow stronger than my old 1st gear (with 300 rwhp). Ok its a 9.5/10. Now one more gear to go. By my calculation 1st gear should be a monster........ no in reality its a Titan. I only got on it for about .5 seconds. Unbelieveable:eek:......the car hooked but the road much be good (and the road I was on was not) and the car must be pointed straight -- its raw power. I'm sure it is over a G of acceleration force. I'll test later. It is definitely a 10/10. I have the FK452 but I may have to go with something better --- like those Dunlops.

Surprise of the day. The RPS twin carbon clutch. I wish I was not an engineer because I would give it a 11/10. Its amazing. It's lighter than stock. Effortless. I had became reluctantly accustomed to the old single disk and did not expect the new clutch to be this easy. It behaves better than the stock clutch (as for drivability) but with the ability to hold incredible power. I'm really speechless.

I agree with others when they say the NSX should have come this way. The addtional power complements the chassis (makes it feel "more" planted esp in the rear). It makes the car feel badder too like B. A. Baracus is coming to mess you up....and this is in the higher gears. First gear is like the Terminator and second gear Rambo.

I forgot until I was about two hours in the drive I also got the Type R chassis bars because I keep saying damn this thing drives great (the feeling I was getting from the front)...did the supercharger do that too.

Last thing the tuning. 10/10. I wish I could give that an 11/10 to. Because I had it tuned twice, with and without the intercooler, plus Chris had the tuner make some additional part-throttle adjustments today...perfection was achieved. No lag, no surging, no herky jerkies, idle rock solid 950 --- even after about 5 hours of driving and stupid Vegas road work (traffic parking lot --I-15). Just a much bigger engine feel with OEM tuning.

I would like to thank Chris and his team. He keep me informed at all times --- like the potential transmission failure I could have had (it was just starting to leak - no magnet installed:mad:). They rebuilt my old (supposedly RM racing built - 9 years ago) transmission. Correcting all the old mistakes - many. The transmission is butter...smooth no grinding (anywhere)..... no difficulty in engagement. I thought I need one of those heavy shifters because of the grinding etc.

It was a lot of money...... a lot of money (lets see next two years ...ramen noodles, no making it rain (on strippers).

But I made it thought an 8 year military career, a tour in Iraq and now I work with the DOE still assisting our troops.

You don't have to make it rain anymore, the women at the gentlemans ballet will accept a drizzle these days!!!

Enjoy the new power and the piece of mind.

cptnsx - What other engine performance mods to you have? I'm asking because I have plans to do the same SC kit from SOS.

Basically just wondering if you also did the cams as well. I'm trying to avoid getting into the engine, if possible.

No cams..... I didn't want to go into the engine either (did that before with my old engine). The engine is a 2005 engine with 20K. I only have AIS, Uni-filter, SOS BBTB, Cantrell Headers and Exhaust, SOS test pipes. I also have the short gears and 4.235. I can spin tires throughout 1st (great roads just a little....bad roads a lot). I plan on upgrading to a sticker tire if lowering the rear tire pressure doesn't work.

This is EXACTLY the reply I was hoping to see. I can't wait to get my own car under way. It seems like all the mods you have, I'm similar set up from the sounds of it. And I'm hoping to meet, or just break the 400 whp mark.

Thanks for the info, it is greatly appreciated.

I daily drive a 2005 S2000 and before I missed driving my nsx because of the feel of the NSX. The S2000 has much shorter gears than the NSX and they feel close in power (in the lower gears) even though the NSX (NA) was much faster.

Now my NSX is a monster and I miss that when I drive my S2000.

Well, what do u know.

I do a search for my name and voila!

i love your analogy, that gives me a good gauge of how a car pulls. From Terminator all the way to B.A. Baracus.

That's a really good review here! Glad that you like it!

Out of curiosity why didn't you go turbo?

I didn't like the powerband of a turbo. Plus I've driven turbo cars.....they all have lag.....in throttle response. The supercharger and esp the SOS one with all that torque so low is just as instantaneous as NA.

Is this your car or the SOS car?

This is my car. I also was able to run the car at the Vegas track ~2200ft temp 77F 10% humidity 30psi front and 32 psi rear.

I ran a 12.1 @117.5 with a 1.87 60 foot. The sea level correction time (and temp) for a supercharged car is ~11.72 @121.2.

I also had my g-tech pro in the car to get the 0-60 and 0-100 times. I got 0-60 in 3.8 secs and 0-100 in 8.9 secs.

Same here bro, Army 8 yrs, Iraq, Afghanistan, and now supporting DoD. It was mentally difficult to use the means I had to get my NSX, however, you are correct as it does motivate me to do my best again and again.

Batmans,

Everything is fine except I'm slower due to heat in Vegas. However it was cooler this weekend low 90s and I was able to log boost at 8 psi around 7500-8000. Did a couple of runs near the race track to check A/F and it was between 11.2 to 11.7 mostly 11.55. 60 to 100 in about 4.386s did about 4 runs in third.

With the air temps at 105-110 I was seeing IAT at 180-190 with repeated runs (4-5). Some of this is heat soak with the starting temp before I get on the throttle for a run. With the air temp around the low 90s I was seeing IAT around 170-180. The IAT is in the intake manifold and is an open element one from SOS.

Saving up for a Car PC so I can run that instead of taking my laptop with me all the time to monitor things. Also KW V3 and rear tires in the near future..... had to replace my S2000 tires first since its my DD.

Twin Disk clutch is great -- never any smell and it grips like crazy --- but not abruptly like the old RPS..... strong and smooth like Guinness.

I bet you can't wait for winter. Do you think you can break into the 10's and trap 125-130?

Of course with some sticky tires.

I was pleasantly surprised to see you comment about how the Supercharger changed the sound of the exhaust note.

It does wonder for the GTO. One can really hear and feel the power.

Does your NSX sound something like this?
