ok so for my very first post on prime i know im gonna make a fool out of my self so here i go. i am in the process of selling a couple cars to buy my dream car, a nsx. i have a collection of wheels, a set in particular that came off of a wide s2000, they are a set of enkei rp01's, nows where i put my foot in my mouth, i know this is gonna be a dumb question but ill ask it anyways (and yes i have searched but haven't found an exact answer to this specifically) the set is 18x9.5..........all four........+45 offset.......all four........i know, not nsx specs AT ALL, but i do plan on either a gt-one or route-ks front fender, and putting larger tires in the back. SO HERES THE ACTUAL QUESTION. can this work, will it rub? if so what about a small spacer in front? (these will not be the track wheels) and if it will work, what tire set up should i look for? thanks a bunch in advance guys.

oh yeah, one more thing (they are white already) does anybody know if the na1 caps fit in rp01's? i really like the look of the na1 nsx-r enkei's and my understanding is they are very close if not same wheel as the rp01. if not oh well, just curious.

Re: 18x9.5 on front???????

it will totally depend on the wide-body kit you will use and until you actually have it installed any odd wheel fitment will be speculative- until you find someone with that exact kit i doubt you will get a right answer. stock nsx is limited to 8.5 max in the front with rubbing (and very offset dependant), as you have read 7.5-8in is the common fitment.

Re: 18x9.5 on front???????

i don't plan to do a whole wbk, just wide front fenders, prolly 20mm. just to have better steering traction, and maybe down the road get some slightly wider rear quarter panels, i want a stock look (no vented fenders or anything like that) don't get me wrong i LOVE the look of the jgtc nsxs but i just don't want mine to attract too much of the wrong attention.

Re: 18x9.5 on front???????

Wide fenders will allow you to run pretty wide wheels although I'm only familiar with what is written on the product description pages. What sort of tire width stagger are you planning on running? 235/275?

Re: 18x9.5 on front???????

There's not really a best. I know you said that this wasn't your track setup, but if it were, I'd go as wide as possible. Since this is your street setup, I don't know. The fronts are awfully wide at 9.5. If you get a manual steering car, 235's aren't going to be very fun during slow maneuvers. I've never driven a power steering equipped NSX so I don't know what that'd be like. I'm guessing 235/275 although you may run a spacer up front to get that more flush look. Those wider fenders are quite expensive and I'd consider just getting another pair or set of wheels.

Re: 18x9.5 on front???????

i hear ya, i just love these wheels, otherwise i wouldn't even bother with this. the fender isn't just for these wheels, they will be functional for wider (normal) wheels for track use (i may use these for the track if i don't need a spacer) plus they look great imo, would a 225 stretch up front to fit it? it would help a lil with the slow driving. when turning, would the 235 hit before the 225 or would it matter? i appreciate your input.

Re: 18x9.5 on front???????

wait until you get the fenders and then get the wheels that will give you the look you are after- sell the other 2 wheels as rears.

Re: 18x9.5 on front???????

I don't think they'll work (offset is good, width is the problem). If they do, I'm guessing you'll be running some stretched 215/35/18 or 215/40/18. 9.5 is very wide for the front, not unless you don't mind massaging the metal to make it work

FYI, the RP01 looks similar to the NSX-R wheel from afar but is actually very different when compared side by side.

How about trying it one a fellow members car? I'm sure someone lives near you that wouldn't mind helping out. Just post in the respective region you live in.

Re: 18x9.5 on front???????

You will most likely rub the tire on the chassis before full lock with that wide of a wheel. I'm sure a 225 will fit on a 9.5" wide wheel but I wouldn't recommend it on a street car. Just find a set or two of the same wheels in a 17x8 or 18x8 and have 2 sets of wheels.

haha thanks fxmdbilly, thats a pretty good idea, actually really good, ill get a set of 17x8 then pc them takata green or highlighter orange or something lol (one set, the other white) great stuff guys. i just don't want to get rid of them, rp01s are my second favorite enkei's and i love racing enkei's!

Re: 18x9.5 on front???????

Heres the deal...

8.0" +38 is about as aggressive you want to go up front on a stock NSX whitout running into trouble.

In comparision, a 9.5" +45 wheel has 26mm less inner clearance, and the lip will extend 12mm in. So...

25mm spacers and wide fenders that extends about 40mm should get the job done.

Re: 18x9.5 on front???????

I've ran 18x8.5 numerous times without issues.

18x9.5... that would be pushing it unless you run flairs or widebody

May I ask what was the offset of the 8.5 inch wide wheels? In your opinion, how much more inner clearance do you think you had? I'm curious of the inside rubbing characteristics of 8.5 wheels with higher offsets, such as +63, street and track applications. Any insight is much appreciated.

18x8.5 35mm offset with a 225 35 18.
Also ran 215 35 18 on them after that.

I had zero rub, and my car was dropped probably atleast 3" at the time on my Tein RA's.

I've also ran 18x8.5 40mm with a 215 35 18 and 225 35 18 on the same set.
