I just bought a 2012 Kia Optima SX with premium touring and navi for my daily driver to replace my faithful '05 Prius that went 178,000 miles without a single problem. I got the Kia for $500 below invoice with no forced option and it came right off the truck, got PDI'd and to me with 4 miles on it. Snow white pearl and I gotta say that it is one hell of a car for the money. Anyone considering a work/commute car, take a look at the Optima. You may be surprised.

My brother is thinking of getting one. Please keep us posted on how you like it.

I think Kia is a good option if you plan on driving it into the ground. I'm not sure how the resale is on them. That being said I'm curious as to how it treats you. They are certainly nice looking cars.

It's a good looking car... that's for sure.

Damn that car looks good!!! I don't know what Honda & Toyota are doing, but they need to get their thumbs out their asses asap. The new Civic & Camry are giant steps back imo. Hyundai & Kia are taking over.

Is that blue one stock? It looks lowered and maybe wheels, but what else is done to that car? Is that the way they come?

Looks like the grill's frame was painted. Might also have a rear window visor. And I'm not aware of it having that LED strip above the foglight from the factory.

That blue Optima belongs to a member on the Kia Optima forum (optimaforums.com). It is lowered, aftermarket wheels, tinted, rear window visor, painted front grill and a rear bumper defuser. Nice car.

I got mine out the door for $31,000. That was at $500 below dealer invoice. I have a '10 MBZ coupe that is fully loaded too and the Kia actually has more "stuff" on it. Go drive one and you might be surprised; I was.

You've sold me! Im considering getting one next year. But i just want the base model, I can probably get one for 15k. I can always add the foglights for $160 and get a double din for $
400.

I bet he gets this a lot:

"hey wow what kind of car is that?"

"Its a Kia"

"Oh"...

So far people just stare at mine. I am not going to rebadge it to the K5, Korean designation. I don't care that it say Kia; it is a nice car and it drives nice. When people ask I say it's a Kia. NHTSA 5 star crash rating BTW.

What do you guys think of the new Hyundai Veloster? Saw a couple in person and they look really good. Not a bad price either.

I think the Veloster looks hot. I also saw an Optima in person last night and cannot believe how good it looked. The Koreans really have their shit together on design, the exact opposite of the Japanese currently.

a commercial for the optima was on the tv last night (the turbo version) and I said to my wife "don't tell anyone I said this, but that's the best looking mid-size car on the market today!" :)

Based on looks alone you'd think the Optima is a $70,000 car. The Sonata too is a good looking car. 10 year 100K warranties, bargain pricing on loaded cars.

Their driving dynmaics is the only thing a little behind, and that is not far behind. Once they get that on par or superior to the Japanese, look out. Frankly I don't know how Korea has gotten to be such a powerhouse. With electronic giants like LG and Samsung, cars like Hyundai and Kia, they are crushing Japan. I am sure BMW and MB are looking at the Genesis Sedan and the Equus and getting a little nervous...
