I had a 1959 Cadillac for a while. Didn't have it for long, the novelty wore off and maintaining it was a pain. I traded it in when I bought a 1985 MR2.
The manager of the Toyota dealership wanted the Cadillac for himself. He was driving a few of his friends around in it a couple days after we made the deal, stepped on the gas to show them how it moved, and a freeze plug blew out of the engine. He said it was impressive, lots of steam from the front of the car.
My first thought was what a dismal time for cars, but I looked around online and found several I'd like to have.
I've had Triumphs for at least 40 yrs and have 3 Tr4a's now, so I guess it would be a TR2 from '54. Altho, I'd like to have one of the big Healy's from that era.
Hmm,
I would still have to choose my first car as a teenager. A 1979 Chevy Malibu classic which was birthed the same year as I.
A 305 small block which I swapped a 350 turbo trans in followed with a set of crane cams and exhaust. Finished off with a set of Craeger mag wheels. Man that brings me back. I was the coolest degenerate in freshman year!
My only regret, the rear windows were fixed. My friends used to fist fight over shotgun in the searing Florida heat...
But still, a classic American car for a teenage youth....
