Rolex uses an in house movement, but they did used to use Zeniths.

Here is my watch collection. As you all see I have used every $ I had on my NSX and not on watches.
The top left is a Breitling copy from somewhere. Then a Whirlpool (they make washing machines) watch with a wopping 128mb of memory with usb access :biggrin:
Then probably the coolest watch I have a Seiko which I bought from SOS.
Then three watches that are broken, but I can't seem to throw them away. A Camel Trophy watch. Then a Swatch and I think a Seiko I found somewhere.
Then the newest addition to my "collection". Kind of cool Timex with alarm. Then some more Timex'es. They have such a cool indiglo light.
What I want in the future is a Tag Heuer. The Carrerra looks good. But it would be nice to have a limited edition Senna, but everything was delayed as I am not working at the moment. But sometime in the future I will buy a super cool watch as I am a watch addict. I guess I have used all my funds on the NSX which was about $74.500 for my 1991 back in 2003. And I would rather have the NSX than a super expensive watch.

Mine is a long-discontinued SS/gold version (not titanium/gold as this is) with much cooler gold dial lettering and trim. It's so rare I couldn't find an image and I don't have a camera so this is a close as it gets:
A very bad and expensive habit but the good new is that they never really lose their value. I have traded many in on newer and better watches.
Wish I still had this watch. Minerva Pythagore, caliber 48 with swan neck regulator, "anniversary" dial, manual wind. Luckily, I still have (in storage) "Classic" dial model of the same watch. Just can't find pics of it right now. Will update once I get a chance..
Luminar Panerai, Vacheron Constantin, Patek Phillipe, and Rolex Daytona. My next one will most likely be an Audemars Piguet. Sorry about the poor picture, my picture taking ability is below average

Different strokes.......A watch is that one piece of jewelery that actually serves a useful purpose (I'm sure many women would disagree w/ this statement)...it tells you what time it is....Yes, there are cheaper ways to accomplish the same thing...but since you're always wearing it and looking at it all day long, why not make it a nice experience ? Not only that, but an elegant watch really compliments clothes, whereas a cheap watch clashes with, and degrades quality clothing. FYI, I have a Tag Monaco.Sorry if this is kinda p*ssing on your thread, but I just don't get it. With watches that is. Just another way to be pretentious. I have an el-cheapo (but real) Rolex submariner...whatever...who cares. I'd buy a Timex next time.
These watch threads always remind me of the Entourage episode where Turtle is going to the Playboy mansion and needs some fancy pajamas. So he spends $1,200 on velvet PJ's and intentionally leaves the pricetag on. E asks why the pricetag is still on, and Turtle replies, "what's the point of spending $1,200 on PJs if nobody knows it." Okkaaaaayyyyyy.....
Edit - your Daytona does look sharp though, so whatever floats ur boat.
I had a Rolex explorer II black face a while back, until the second hand went backwards (Yes! Backwards!!)!!! Needless to say, I sent it in for repair, never got a reason for it going backwards, but sold it right after it was fixed and never buy a rolex again.

I'm a chick so I'm all about the sparkly stuff. I think we're bioogically programmed to drool over 'purdy' things.
That being said, I dont get the watch thing. I buy the cheapest watch I can find that serves my purpose. It has to be waterproof enough that I can swim with it. I need a digital timer and an alarm function is kind of nice to have.
I've bought 3 watches in the past 6 months because I'm so hard on them. I have kids and a busy lifestyle so I dont want to have to worry about breaking/misplacing my watch, which I wear 24/7.
The last one I bought (around November) broke last week. The band just popped off. No big deal. I threw it into the basket with the others and went to buy a new one. Paid 10 bucks for this one:
Definitely not fancy or stylish but it works and if it breaks, who cares?
I have a Gucci watch that I got for my 18th birthday. (My dad almost croaked when I told him it was $650. Then when I turned 25, I had my eye on a Movado. THAT ONE he didn't go for. He was still reeling from the Gucci.) :biggrin:
I see the appeal of watches. They're pretty... they serve a purpose, unlike most jewlery. I just don't "get" the price tag on some of them. If I break my cheapy little plastic bands, I chunk 'em to the side and think nothing of it. If I broke the band off one that cost me several thousand dollars, I'd be pissed.
I guess it's the same logic that I use for not taking my D&B bags out when it's raining.

I own several (I think very nice) watches and I have to agree that I almost never wear the expensive/rare ones as I am scared of/would feel bad if I damaged/scratched it.
The IWC posted higher, I wore it only once I think..:redface:
For daily use I have a Citizen Eco-drive WR100 Titanium watch which, is close to indestructable. Looks very nice in bi-colour and I never have to replace a battery as it is driven by solarcell dial with a power reserve of about 7 days I think. I wear it for about 6 years now and NEVER take it off (working on the car/construction work/scuba-diving/sauna) it can take it all and only is scratched a little now. Great timepiece!!:biggrin:
I don't wear a watch very often, but when I do this is it (the only watch I own).

My Suunto T6 had a built in thermometer, the problem is the watch would absorb body heat, so if you wanted the actual outdoor temperature, you had to take it off your wrist and let it sit for 30 minutes or so. Pretty much rendered that feature worthless.
