Update after barely having any time to do anything: ran a bottle of techron injector cleaner through the engine and a tank of gas, now onto a fresh tank of different gas (to try to rule out a bad batch of gas)
Ever since I put in the techron, I only get a code on cyl 3. Everything else is...
It does shake more when it's misfiring but only a little bit and isn't noticeable in the video.
I looked at codes again today and there were no new ones. I cleared all of them and went for a long but relaxed drive. And amazingly today was the first time that I saw an NSX in the wild while...
The hesitation only occurs above 1/3 throttle but it seems to misfire most at idle (hence the thumping in the video) or I can't tell if its misfiring or not above idle until there's hesitation that can easily be felt. When it hesitates it's clear there's a problem happening, but with low loads...
If the misfire was due to spark, wouldn't there then be a fuel smell in the exhaust? I will try moving coils around when I get a chance, but I have not driven it in rain since over a year ago and haven't washed it in months either (see how dirty the car is in the video?)
Thanks for the link. I do plan to do plugs soon but would like to figure out the cause of the injectors missing too. I did check the connections at the igniter and they were all good, is there a way to test if the igniter is going bad?
Hey everyone, I could use some help.... here's the backstory:
A month or two ago I went to accelerate in a tall gear at low rpms (gently, just driving normally) and the car jerked on acceleration. I figured I was just out of the powerband and the engine didn't like it and thought nothing of it...
accidentally stumbled on this pre-production test of the NSX
http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/Drives/Search-Results/First-drives/Honda-NSX-driven-by-Gavin-Green/
i dont think it has been posted here before (couldnt find it in a quick search) but it was interesting to see that with unfinished...
nothing actually said, but a guy on a harley sportster almost dropped his bike at a stop sign today when he saw me go by. i was cracking up, all the more so because i know a guy in the area with the same model bike and was wondering if it was him :)
+1 to just taking it easy for a few miles. i usually wait a few minutes after its at temp before getting on it (because like some have mentioned, coolant warms up faster than oil), and i also try to take it easy the last few miles of a trip to let it naturally cool down and avoid high rpm stress...
dont they sell the FIA version here though? isn't the only difference the belt buckle area? i dont mean to hijack the thread about a seat that turbo will not do a gb on, but im very curious about this.... also if anyone has more info about pole positions feel free to PM me
+1. i cant find it now, but i remember seeing a dyno chart of an NA engine with and without vvis. it lost torque everywhere in the rpm range without vvis. now on FI its a different story though....
edit: found it: post 12 here...
random guy at autozone recognized it from inside the store (i parked at the end of the lot) and asked to see it up close. we go out to it, i open the door, and he exclaims "damn and i thought my vette's footbox was small!"
someone i know on fb commented on one of my pics today:
"its just a flashy honda. It's like buying a Ferrari with a Fisher-Price engine"
so i asked him when was the last time he drove an nsx, to which his response was:
"Lol never had the desire, but I did sit inside of an Enzo in Germany.."...
am i the only one who suddenly feels a bit safer when driving between a jersey barrier and large trucks? i mean where before i saw a concrete wall, now i see an escape route lol
