Sorry to bring this post back from the dead. The car was never turbocharged. I was working on a boost gauge prototype and was testing it with a wideband put in the tailpipe of the car. The prototype was sold a long time ago to a company.

Weird but today I let it warmed up and them took it out for a spin. After 5-20 of driving, the engine sounds normal again. Oddly weird but I'll take that. It's probably just the nature of the beast.
