If you are running 17/17's, lets see your setup. Feel free to include tire info, wheel weight, and spacers or not.

Will have to take a pic later (snowing here).

17/17 Track setup.
Enkei RFP01 wheels 17x8 (+45) 235/40/17 and 17x9.5 (+38) 275/40/17

The reason why I went 17/17 for the track was because of weight and price of tires. Going to the 18 rear was an extra $300 a pair 275/35/18 vs the same 275/40/17.

L' capy-tain, sorry to hear about that snow ! It's about 70 here. Can't wait for the pixx

Anyone know 17/17's or are they 18/18's Car42.jpg I think they are 17's

Nice, better picture. It was just the way the first picture was it made it looked like you had different sidewall tires.

18/18 setups welcome too....

Docjohn,

How is the track handling w/17's all around and could you share tire sizes?? How about offsets if known?? By any chance does a big brake kit lurk underneath either the fronts or rears??

Thanks

Charlie

Bet you he has rubbing at full lock. I know I do. Plus I am running Toyo R888s which are really wide (9.6") for a 235. I plan on swapping out to a Hoosier R6 225/40/17 after I finish the Toyos off.

There is no performance/handling advantage going to a 18" in the rear. There is only the disadvantage of extra weight and extra $.

Captain,

Do you experience any under steer or rubbing with this setup?

Thanks,
Charlie

Captain,

Any thoughts on a smaller tire or less crossection - perhaps a 225X45-17?? What rim width are you running in the front?? Any big brake kit installed ??

Thanks,

Charlie

Yeah i know. I just really wanted to see cars droped with 17's flush. After-market, or stock 02+ wheels. Will 02+ wheels sit flush with spacers, even if you slam the car ?

OEM will sit flush with 15mm front and 20mm rear spacers. Some people like 25mm in the back, but I think it pushes it out just a tad too much.

17's... FTW!

Yokohama Advan AVS Model 5 (gun-metal)
F: 17"x7" (+35mm offset) w/ 215/40R17 (Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3)
R: 17"x9" (+40mm offset) w/ 255/40R17 (Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3)

These wheels are the same size as the OEM/stock '02+ wheels & the same offset as the '02+ NSX-R.

Even though the OEM/stock '02+ BBS wheels are forged-alloy, the cast-alloy Model 5's in the same size are slightly lighter by almost 2lbs'/corner (based on my home bathroom-scale, FWIW). Also, the Model 5's general design (sublimated lip in which the flared-spokes overlap onto) makes them appear larger than they are, hence why 17's in this style looks adequate on a NSX while saving weight & big money on tires.

For reference (not the most ideal of angles, but illustrative of the relative-flush profile)...
