2007 European NSX event !!!

Anywhere would be nice, just want to get out and drive and get away from the bl**dy camera's here in the UK

Hmmm testing highspeed capabilities of our cars on the Autobahn is interesting :D

Hi again

Suggestion:

Oslo->Kiel for the Norwegian NSX'es. Then meet up with any other NSX'es on the way down the autobahn to Nurburg.

No speeding!

Welcome dinner somewhere around Adenau/Nurburg.

Then the next day at Nurburgring. Then dinner and beer again.

Next day driving the Black forrest or some other "forrest". Suggestions needed here for great scenic rides with great roads.

Then some social event somewhere with hotel, dinner and beer again.

Then we head home (or some more days). The ones that are from the north drive north to Copenhagen for another "hotel/beer dinner". Then over the bridge to Sweden the next day and say goodbye to the swedes and then "home" to Oslo.

Then I have 1500km to get home, but thats okey I have a NSX.

Regards

This thread goes great!

So far, quit a lot of input for the event!

I want to thank everyone and I am sure more suggestions will be coming in this thread in weeks and months to come.

Martin:
About the trip to north Norway, I really would like to travel up all the way once myself. I'm sure more NSX'ers like to drive the scenic route up north. I know one of the Dutch NSX'ers actually did it this summer! I think there is a way to figure out the 2007 event in a way that participants can join in every country and drive a part of a kind of Europe tour which covers every country in Europe. I will work this idea out like suggested and really think that is the way to go ... more days, more activities to choose from.

Kowalski:
Combining the 2007 event with events which already exist seems a great opportunity to please NSX'ers which usually attend those events like Le Mans.

Blue Eyes'
I'm not sure whether a one day event somewhere in the middle of Europe is what we should strive for. At his moment I think a multiday even trough (a lot of/most/some) countries in Europe seems a possibility which is for most NSX'ers acceptable. Some people only want to drive a few hundred kilometers, others might be willing to drive thousands of kilometers, some only want to spend 1 or 2 days, others might want to come along for a week or even more.
So let's wait for some more reactions and then make up our minds and decide how to set up the 2007 European NSX event.

j14nsx:
The suggestion to go for a trackday is OK, but if we only do a trackday, quit a lot NSX'ers won't join because of whatever reason. So going to the track is OK, but we must offer some other activities as well.
You're right that it is impossible to please everyone, but we can set up the event in a way that attendees can kind of "pick what they like of the menu". In my opinion that means we must go for a multiday event. This is what goldNSX and Martin also suggest.

goldNSX:
You're right about the fact that we do have to visit Germany. And not only for the landscape, but for the Autobahn and obviously, combining with a visit to the Nürburgring.

Senninha:
That would be very nice ... NSX event without speedcams!

Thanks again to anyone for their suggestions ... waiting for more!

I'll be back in a few days and publish a kind of do's and don't list which will grow along the way.

What is Honda R&D?

Honda Research & Development.

I think they are working on the further development of the Nurburgring racing NSX seen in different posts of Detlef.

Yes Honda use the 'ring as a test track. They have a facility there (as do lots of car companies). The NSX was originally developed there as well. As it is a research centre there may be no chance to visit, as the stuff that happens there is secret (they may even have the next NSX there!). I have tried to organise trips to the Honda Racing engine centre in the UK, that builds the F1 engines, but there is no chance, as it is too top secret.

Hello guys

sorry that i am one off the last who's responding on this nice thread from dirk.

Maybe the problem is that i had the same idee. But my idea was to go up north with some NSX cars. I had the idea to put a thread to go up north in a few weeks, so dirk 1-0 for you !!!

DIrk please see your agenda for next year, the weekend off 9-10-11 june is allready booked for you !! Honda S800 event in holland !!!

A Tracht day isn't the nicest way to give pleasure to everybody.

I can arrange a visit with honda europa in belgium to visit there parts warehouse, parking space for new cars, see how the new cars arrive from japan, see how the prepare the cars etc etc.

I also can arrange a very nice day in Holland at a very good specialist who is a big player in preparing and restoring manual en automatic transmissions. ( staphorst)

There is also a positbility to go to italie or france to join a formel 1 race, i am sure when we contact the locall honda importer the will arrange something for us

so there are a lot off ideas but dirk think about itt it hass to be nice for almost everybody??

Hi

Great idea. Maybe we find a motorsport event like Formel 1 we could attend too somewhere?

I am not that into Formel 1 racing, but I could be tricked to watch it live

Lets go and find the Formel 1 calender for next year and see.

From 2006 I see that

Nurburgring was at 7 may.
Monaco 28 may
Magny Cours France 16 july
Hockenheim 30 july.

It would not have to be Formula 1..maybe something else motorrelated?

I have been to Assen twice to watch Moto GP and that is also a lot of fun. A pitlane pass to the Honda pit on a Moto GP race somewhere would be nice? :)

I like the idea too. We will have our annual track day at Arctic Circle Raceway (as Martin mentioned) the first weekend of August. I definately will be there so an event in central Europe should take place a week or two before that and I can stop at ACR on my way home. Also I will be in USA until 10-12th July. So as for myself, last full week of July and the first days of August are the most convinient.
I agree on having an option for a track and a major motoring event. Hondas R&D will be a great bonus. And making it a tour, maybe from the Ring going to CH and entering France (even though French highways are expensive) up to Reims and the Champagne area (very scenic route), then to BeNeLux and for us heading north again having the drive down Mosel Valley. Calculate a week from entering Germany and back to i.e. Copenhagen (should be 5 days for those located a bit more south than we are...).

Hi Dirk

I can help you maybee in the good way with Honda.

And we can start from my new company maybee?

Hello dirk

I had some time to think about your nice idea. But the most important thing is that you have to take car off the holiday season. It is not nice when you have a 3 4 or 5 days drive just 1 week before of just after your holiday.
So i think the best time to do this is in the month may or september.

I also found the calander of f1 for next year:

De Formule 1-kalender voor 2007:
Grand Prix van Australië - 18 maart
Grand Prix van Maleisië - 8 april
Grand Prix van Bahrein - 15 april
Grand Prix van Spanje - 13 mei
Grand Prix van Monaco - 27 mei
Grand Prix van Canada - 10 juni
Grand Prix van de Verenigde Staten - 17 juni
Grand Prix van Frankrijk - 1 juli
Grand Prix van Groot-Brittannië - 8 juli
Grand Prix van Duitsland - 22 juli
Grand Prix van Hongarije - 5 augustus
Grand Prix van Turkije - 26 augustus
Grand Prix van Italië - 9 september
Grand Prix van België - 16 september
Grand Prix van China - 30 september
Grand Prix van Japan - 7 oktober
Grand Prix van Brazilië - 21 oktober

Hi Guys,

I definately be interested in attending a centrally located European event.

There seem to be quite a few votes for June which is a problem for me if it requires any days off work. I work for a US Software Company and any holiday in the last month of the Quarter (April, June, Sept & Dec) is a problem for me. Surely I'm not the only one in this position??

So my vote would be for a July or October (like the old Spa one) event.

Nurburgring might be a fairly good base? The entrance/car park and Grunhalle(?) cafe is a good place to hang out even if you don't want to venture out on the circuit. There are some interesting surrounding roads and Spa is an easy day trip.

Cheers

Mark

Hmmm maybe we should set up a poll?

I can from 20th june to 20th august and that's it.

Nürburgring is great. We can meet there and do sth with the cars that survived the track. :D

Hi dude's!

Im in with everything  !
Spa sounds exiting as well as everything other track's...

About Holidays in Europe.
I have nice summerholidays (5weeks) with my girfriend in summer -05.
We travel all around the europe and also about 10 different countries & Almost 10 000km.

So, Im listening some good idea from you.

Keep in touch,

First Finish NSX owner, happy with it

Thanks!

I like to thank all of you for the great response in this thread. It appears to me that quit a lot NSX'ers like the idea of a European NSX event in 2007.

Somewhere in september I will post a reply with a link to a website where alle the suggestions will come together as well as the periode in which the event should take place and a lot of other aspects to get an overall idea of how the event will gonna look like next year.

Keep on posting replies with suggestions. It's the only way we can make it an event everyone will like to attend.

j14nsx:
I will try to contact Honda to find out in what way they want to contribute to the event. One way could be that they let us visit a nice facility where we can look around and here some "interesting Honda stories".

Honda-ronny:
Thanks for offering help with visiting Honda in Belgium. Your ideas will be taken into consideration ofcourse and attending a F1 race might fit great in the schedule.
PS: Organizing a NSX event is not a competition ... there is no looser, only winners, so it should be 1-1!

midNight Sun Xpress:
Thanks for your suggestion about France etc. I think the best thing we could do when organizing the event, is to ask people from every European country to figure out a nice trip in their own country ...

frank nsx:
Ofcourse we will be happy to visit you as a NSX specialist during the event. You might even come in handy to help out some problems which may occur during the trip!

markc:
It seems to be quit a problem to find a date or period so that everyone can attend the event. That's why I suggested earlier in this thread to set up a small website where everyone can put on their info, wishes, etc.

|Adeel:
Thanks for the suggestion. I will definitely set up a poll.

Roenick:
Looking forward to meet a Finish NSX'er!

So, keep coming with suggestions. We will make a great event in 2007!

If we go to the nurgburgring, maybe we can get to visit Honda R&D there?

Maybe we should call up Detlef, and see if he can help arrange something?

Honda R&D would be great and maybe with enough NSX's from across Europe they might open their doors?

I would also welcome the chance to meet Detlef!!

regards

Senninha

There's no plan for a Swiss meeting this year, so the Europe meeting is welcome.

Other question: what intention should Honda R&D have to invite us as Honda doesn't have a NSX-sucsessor? :) Don't get me wrong I like the idea very much.

As a new NSX owner (any day now) I'm very keen to join you all at a meet...

I'm pretty easy on dates, anytime is good with me as long as there's a few months notice before dates are finalised.

As for location, anywhere with nice roads (and views) would be good. Happy to travel north to Norway or south to Italy or anywhere in between.

Track time (especially at the Nordschleife) would be great if it could be incorporated at some point...
