just bought a set of 17x7.5 and 17x8.5 and want 215/40 and 245/40 tires on them. Want 245 ho the back because of slightly lower rolling diameter vs stock an lower weight. According to faq i'm within 5 % of front rear diameter to cope with tcs issues. But has anyone tried this combo?

Put on a 255/40-17 tire on the rear.

i have 245/40 on 18 inch wheel with no tcs problem (i switch them off anyway) in other words, you are off by an inch. I had 245/45/17 and it works fine too.

255/40/17 will be the perfect size though

What width rim did you use with the 245-40-18? I'm considering this size because they quite cheaper...

But has anyone tried this combo?

Not with this size in the front. I had 215/45/16 and 245/40/17 on a 91 which is about 5 percent and the TCS reacts in situations where I absolutely didn't expect it but I could drive the down. In your case I'd prefer 255/40 on the rear.
