Here's an odd match-up ,

A car crash test using a 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air VS a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu.

A bit of a shame to waste a '59 Bel Air , but interesting.

Hi,

i agree that it's a shame to trash a classic, but the results are self explanatory... the classic driver was completly squized between the dash and seat... hardly would survive.

That'll buff right out.

the good'ol days of lap belts and bench seats without headrests. The A-pillar really had no strength back in those days.

Wow.. the inside shots are really telling when you compare what happens to the dummy in the Bel Air vs the Malibu. Notice the fuzzy dice hanging off the Bel Air rearview? :)

Can't teach me anything, though. I'd still take the '59 Chevy instead of the Malibu.

Me too !

One thing I noticed , around the 2009 Malibu you can see gases from the airbag , around the 1959 Bel Air you see clouds of rust coming out from different areas of the body , mostly the rocker panels .....!!

Here is another clip of the same crash with slightly different camera angles and some captions.
