Acura Integra DC2 C30A Mid Mount Build

Honestly, I like the fact that it's a real Type-R. The fact is, it will be the only one in the world of it's kind:wink:. And it looks like it's being very properly done.

Thanks guys.

Real Type R's are a dime a dozen here so didn't really make sense to start with anything else. If nothing else, to save me having to remove all that sound deadening haha!

My fab guy is away for a couple weeks so just in parts collection mode for a while.

Have the front suspension, arms, bushes, tie rods, RCA's and so on collected so will get those in soon and she will be ready to roll around ;)

UPDATE!!!!

Kevin, the main man at Redline Enterprises has been away for a few week and managed to get some hours in on the car this week!

The rear strut towers and shock mounting is all but finished. Some final plating and welding around the newly constructed shock tower is all that's left. This can't be completed until the engine is out, which can't happen until the headers arrive so that the last of the chassis reinforcement can be welded in.

The cage is done and as I type will now be welded in place. Also the making of the "firewall" between the passenger cabin and rear of the car is taking shape. The cut out at the bottom will be for a removable service panel and the top cut out for a piece of lexan which will go in.

Some goodies are arriving in 3 weeks for the car including the individual throttle bodies, sump baffle, upgraded oil pump and oil pressure sensor relocation kit.

Slow and steady wins the race!

Some more updates!!!!

Rear sway bar mounted. It mounts off the chassis in the NSX, not the subframe so had to make some custom brackets etc.

Also had to chop the end of the headers off as it fouled on the sway bar.

Fuel cell is more or less mounted, low and as far back as possible without interfering on the power steering hoses and other stuff back there.

Also the electric power steering pump is mounted.

Looks great, cant wait to see this project finished.

Now this is truly sitting on a engine if there is a back-seat.

Now this is truly sitting on a engine if there is a back-seat.

Some more work!

Most of what is required from this point on is the fiddling stuff - nothing big and structural, but it takes time!

So this is where things are up to

Shifter is mounted and feels good
Handbrake mounted, cables routed and brackets made.
Coolant pipes under car run, bent and mounted. Final touches to be made at motor and radiator end
Radiator In

Now that my order has arrived the SOS throttle bodies, sump baffle, oil pressure sensor relocation, front and rear rotors and pads and probably other stuff I have forgotten about has arrived!

NEXT STAGE
Finish plumbing (fuel, coolant, oil cooler) and then motor comes out so clutch, sump baffle, throttle bodies and other "Stuff" can be sorted off the car. Interior will get a coat of paint so it looks pretty and then assembly will commence!

PICS!

Ok more pics as promised!!!!

Here is what they feature:
- Throttle bodies from a few different angles. With all of that wiring taken off you can actually see that it looks like a motor!
- Reinforcing of the inner skin where the oil filter sandwhich plate will mount and the access/drain plate below that.
- Kevin then mocks up oil cooler position and then the holes cut to help generate air flow. Air will be ducted in through the rear quarter window.
- Fuel pump mounted on the fuel cell which has been removed ahead of painting duty.
- Battery mount made.
- Firewall completed with access panel finished off. Need to sort some lexan for the rear view slot.
- "engine bay" empty, welding and plating finished.

Car is off to Grant at GT for some loving next week!

Grant and the boys at GT have been busy He just sent through pics on what they have been up to over the last week or so.Car is all but finished in terms of paint. The rear guards have been chopped and welded to suit flares but they can't be fitted until bumpers are on and ride height is set. Same goes for the front, so car will go back once those things are sorted.

that's some serious ride with a real NSx heartbeat

how does the engine come out thru the bottom or top looks like bottom

and you kept the original subframe for the NSX very nice I wonder what the car will feel like with rear wheel drive. so cool

great job

Thanks mate,

Yeah motor in and out through the bottom - typically it'll be a case of just dropping the whole subframe down - subframe in it now so it can roll around.

I hope it feels amazing! ;)

What an amazing job. Do you have an estimate as to what the finished product will weigh? That is an awful lot of work for a 300hp engine.

The C30 running gear is only around 100lb heavier than B series.....What we have stripped out in weight as part of the build we have probably put most back in in terms of rear subframe, heavier hubs, extra weight of plumbing and fluid on board and so on. I would probably guess it won't be too far off factory - maybe 50-100lb heavier and with the support mods should be making roughly twice the power of a stock GSR, so all in all I think/hope it'll be worth the effort!

Where will the fresh air for the engine come from? Will there be a vent or something feeding cool air to the "new" engine bay?

THanks guys

Yeah running lexan rear quarter windows so will have vents in those for throttle bodies and oil cooler.

Some updated pics below!
