As far as know it's for real! You should get one and hook it up to your NSX stereo, then you'd have a legitimate reason for carrying an AK in your car. :D

Anyone interested to see what Bianchi Style pistol competition is all about? I plan to attend the March 7 practice match and wouldn't mind taking a fellow NSX'er along. PM me if interested. :)

Hey Z50,

How did the practice goes? Any pics?

:)

I got a question to ask all of you who probably know more about guns than I do. I'm considering buying a car-15/M-4 rifle made by "bushmaster"(?) and I was hoping for some input. At a local gun shop its priced around $800. Would you guys recommend it? and if I do buy it can i take it home the same day? or do i have to wait for the background check etc?

by the way this would be the first gun I'd be buying

Your probably buying a post ban ar-15 rifle and bushmaster is one of the best manufacturer of the Ar15s.
Here in Michigan you can
take the rifle home the same day you paid for it.( I'm not sure in other States) The background check usually takes about 5-10 minutes, after 9-11 the dealers are now requiring a electric or water bill as proof of identity/residence besides the drivers license.

Good Luck on your purchase and make sure you do a research on how to handle and store it - if you're not yet familiar. Also, check your state/local gun Laws on transporting and use of high capacity magazines.

Hey Jag,

Work and other misc. obligations have prevented me from attending that Sunday's practice match. As a matter of fact, I was tied down for almost a year and my trigger finger's rusty as heck and itching baaaad! Shoot! :p Anyway, There's a practice session coming up again on 4/4 and our last local match is on Sun. 4/11/04 just before the "Cup" (National Championship) annually held at Columbia Mo. on Memorial Day weekend. Our local hereos like John Pride (a true gentleman and a good friend) and Mickey Fowler will surely attend our local match in Chino, CA. I'll be sure to bring my digicam if I can find a way to get out of the hell hole I created for myself so I can meet up with my boys. :)

But for now, I'll see if I can dish out 5+ year old snapshots of my Bianchi guns and post them here. Pretty wild-looking guns if I may say so myself. :D As far as pics of my buddies and I in action, you may have to wait a little longer. Now where's my digicam??? :)

Also, here are some 411's on the sport. Enjoy!!

I agree with JagTiger's comment on Bushmaster's quality. I'd also like to add Armalite to the list as well. I personally feel that they are a tad better then BM in terms of fit and finish, but at a higher premium if I'm not mistaken. :)

Does anyone know a good site to list guns for sale? I am planning on selling off a couple (AR-15 / AK) because I have added some different models. :D

My "Jack of all trades" project semiauto pistol Accuracy Test

After ~3 years hiatus from pistol competitions and just plain shooting in general, I decided to dust off this half-rusted workhorse gun from my stockpile and had it re-blued by a talented local gunsmith Dave Lawver who was introduced to me 14 years ago by one of my Bianchi Cup shooting mentors. This gun is based off a Springfield Armory 1911 originally chambered in .45 ACP, but converted to shoot 9mm so that the gun is still "regulation-legal" for Bianchi Cup competition and NRA conventional 3 gun aggregate (aka bullseye pistol shooting). Extensive work had been done to this gun and it took no less than 5 trips back to Dave to get it "right".

And it's well worth it!!! This gun REALLY shoots, even though my skills were rusty from lack of practice for the last 3 years. After some initial sight adjustment/zeroing in, I was able to keep 9 of 10 shots within 1 1/2 inch circle at 75 feet offhand/unsupported (see accompanying pic below). That one lone first round flyer was inevitable as such is typical of autoloaders. I believe the gun is a tad more capable than my shooting ability and I wouldn't be surprised to find the potential of this gun + ammo combination to print under 1 inch at this distance if I were to use Ransom Rest to do my testing. The trigger is set at about 3.5 lbs. so it's not as light as it can go, but good enough for what it's intended for.

Bullet used:

--Winchester 115 grain Hollow Point bullet

--4.1 grain Winchester 231 powder

--Federal F100 small pistol primer

--mixed 9mm recycled brass

--medium taper crimp on bullet

**Reloaded on a Dillon 550B progressive reloader**

More details to follow..... :)

Thanks jagtiger. Having a solid background in olympic pistol shooting sure helps. Also glad to know that you participate in shooting matches. So I take it that you shoot IPSC and/or IDPA?

I do IDPA matches. They have real life scenarios which makes it fun and exciting!

hey everyone, I just bought two M4's today. Background check took about 5 mins, and out I walked out with my 2 new babies. got two 30 round magazines. they did have a 100 round mag/drum available, that i'll probably get eventually. i'm also looking for a scope for this rifle if anyone is selling one out there. BTW, i am in Arkansas.

I'm also gonna join the NRA. Are there any other clubs , associations I should know about? Hopefully tomorrow is beautiful so i can go to the range and break these babies in.
