I can't take credit for this, i found this idea online and tried it myself with a slightly different cupholder.
Its a $15 cup holder and I have about an hour of time into modifying it, I took my time to make the cut as clean as possible on the bottom, but this is not even seen. This particular cupholder needed no modification to the top part, so it looks like new and very clean when installed. It does not move and is very sturdy. Its 2.25" deep, and only 2.5" total height. This holds my Tropical Smoothies huge cup just fine, the whole point of me making this.
My CD changer wired remote won't let my lid close when the holder is installed, so i need to try a different setup.
