I'd like to get some straight input as to my 91 Bose sound system. I am not experiencing any extreme problems but, the sound is very poor by todays automotive standards. I am aware of the known problems with the factory Bose/NSX system. What is the best remedy? Should I replace it with a different set of amps/ receiver and how difficult would this be? Thanks in advance, B. Jones. (Chitown)

The best "basic" upgrade is to install aftermarket amps/speakers. The factory head unit is a pain to replace and it's the speakers and amps that are responsible for the poor sound quality in the stock system. Price depends on the components you want to use. You could spend from a few hundred for a basic pair of speakers and an amp to a few thousand for high-end stuff plus a subwoofer.
