I'm going to IOWA!!!!! For a month... tomorrow. Any NSX crew out there? I'll be in the SE part near Davenport... I hear its only 2 hours from Chicago (good) but I have no car with me (bad).

NSX will be safely stored at home.. and I will miss her dearly.

Oh yeah, for those of you that care... most of you are of the older crowd and have seen the movie "Children of the Corn" maybe 20 years ago or whatever... but we're making a remake of that... in the Iowa corn fields! I'm going to be doing lighting (well the sun is doing most of the work) and operating the Camera Crane.

The shoot would be so much funner with my NSX by my side... I could roll around Iowa and watch all the little boys drool... hahah. So if anybody is in Davenport Iowa.. reply to this!!

Nobody here will know what kind of car it is nor will they care! Trust me! When I had my NSX it was just another foreign car to the locals. Another issue is the quality of the roads here. They really suck! You'll understand when you get here.

Well, well, I was born and raised there. Davenport is one of the "Quad Cities" including 2 cities in Iowa (Davenport, Bettendorf) and three cities in Illinois (Moline, Rock Island, and East Moline). I know, I know... I have no idea where they got the "Quad"...

Anyway Moline is the location of the first Mississippi River railroad bridge and is the founding place and remains the headquarters of John Deere corporation to this day. Davenport is the largest of the cities and I hear that the suburbs are still expanding. Having moved out in 1993, I haven't been back to the QC in over 5 years but my sister who still lives in Davenport gives me regular updates.

You won't find many NSXs in the QC as the only Acura dealer in the QC, Bob Lindsay Acura, closed up shop in '97 or '98. I bought my first Legend from them in 1989.

Although I do remember seeing a couple of NSXs driving around the QC back when I was living there. They may all have been sold off by now though.

If you like golf there is a TPC golf course in the area that hosts the PGA John Deere Classic tournament annually. And if you can get a member to offer an invitation the Davenport Country Club in Pleasant Valley, IA is a spectacular course as well (tons of hills and very tough).

P.S. The very outermost suburbs of Chicago are approximately 2:30 away... BTW, it's not as "booney" as you may think as the hospital staff parking lots are filled with Porsches and there are some Ferraris and Lamborghinis out there (mostly garage queens though).

Hmm doesn't sound too bad. I guess some coworkers and I will rent a car and go party in Chicago... I can't think of anytihng better to do. But if you say its big, they must have some decent bars/clubs there. Its 3am and I leave for the airport in 3.5 hours AHHH.

I don't know anything about the bar/club scene there but there were several "riverboat" casinos in town and Iowa City is 1 hour away and probably has some better clubs being that it is a college town (Univ of Iowa).

If you want some real Iowa/midwest style dining check out the Iowa Machine Shed and order their special prime rib dinner... my mouth is watering just thinking about it!

Well so far my first imprssions of quad city are nice. Went to a few bars, met cool people, and a good time. Hopefully the rest of the trip is as nice!


Oh yeah there is a new Acura dealership! I saw a sign for it on the freeway =]

Davenport was fun.. I think I'll check out Rock City next. I'm staying in Bettendorf so rock city is probably the farthest...

Common misconseption about Iowa- its not all farm land and aids- im sure it may seem small for people from large(r) states with bigger cities- but dont be confused- there are plenty of lambo's- ferrari's- and other exotics in this state
