While those are polished, they don't have the appearance of chrome. You could buy these and then have them chromed though.

You are correct. I don't know if anyone can chrome plate plastic and have it look like it was chrome plated metal though.
Chroming interior parts?! To me, that's Yuck!
Artcraft Plating plates plastic like you suggested. I had them plate my complete console, door plates and gauge surround in an aluminum look metal finish (like brushed aluminum without the brush). They somehow apply metal to the plastic and then plated it, which is similar to the way grills are plated on cars.
They offer Chrome, Black Chrome or Satin Aluminum (mine)
While those pics do have a metallic look, I wouldn't say it looks like chrome. Then again, it might with a different angle too.
It's not chrome and more of an aluminum finish. The company also plates plastic in chrome and black chrome. I had them chrome plate my side vents and shifter plate.
