Can Chrome be removed from wheel

The previous owner of my 05 had the wheels chromed. They are now showing some bubling and flaking of the chrome in spots. Can the chrome be removed returing the wheel to original finish?

yes but must be done by a chrome shop as it involves caustic chemicals you do not want to handle.
after that you can paint it or coat it.

It should also be noted that the chroming process weakens the aluminum , it will probably never cause you problems , but worth mentioning.

Flaking chrome has also been known to cause leaking at the rim/tire interface.
