I have a 96 in excellent condition, but I have an odd sound signal which I can't identify and I'm hoping someone else can.
This sound occurs randomly during operation, and I'm assuming it's some sort of indicator or warning sound. It does not sound when the car is started, nor does the start of it co-incide with any particular operation. Once it starts it's likely to repeat, usually 20 seconds or more spaced but still not on a regular time- and often just stops. No warning lights are showing, and I can't find anything open or incorrect. The sound seems to be coming from the left side of the dash. It is obviously electronic, but not the usual chime or chirp. This is more of a "clunk" or "clink"- a brief sound such as might be made when a musician strikes a wooden block with a stick, but it's more metallic.
Anyone have any ideas what this is?
